THIS PLACE IS MAGIC. YOU MUST STAY HERE!

This was one of the best travel experiences of my life. One of those that you will remember for the rest of your life. The room was very spacious, clean, and nice. AND WHAT A VIEW! What really made this place special was the staff. They were some of the kindest people I have ever met. They sent us to the most amazing local spot for dinner, a Ht restaurant which is a type of noodle soup that is specific to the Fuji area. The staff also speaks english really well! They saw that we were very fast paced travelers and made us to go sit down and have a cup of coffee and enjoy the view for a few minutes which was exactly what we needed! I can't recommend this place enough! I promise you will not be disappointed. We rented a car while we were in the area so I'm not sure how easy it is to get here without one.

Morning coffee on our balcony with Mt Fuji view. What more can we ask for?

After considering a few properties, we decided on Kawaguchiko Country Cottage Ban for our family trip. We have 5 of us - 2 adults, 3 kids. Our main consideration was a space and the description sounded good for us as it could accommodate us. It was more than good, this was perfect, this place was the highlight of our whole trip. The cottage is located across the bridge from Kawaguchiko main town (where the station is). If you want a good Mt Fuji view, you'll need to stay across the bridge because then you'll be facing Mt Fuji. Otherwise Mt Fuji is behind you. We booked the standard cottage. It was so spacious with an upstairs lodge. Downstairs was the kitchen, dining and hall area and a room with 2 single beds. Upstairs was 2 rooms and 2 large tatami area with 8 futons. We all chose to sleep on the futons on the tatami area. We like the self catering style as we have small kids and this was convenient for us to cook breakfast and dinner. We borrowed a large soup pot. If you want, you can add on a hotpot package or a BBQ package at a reasonable charge and they'll set it up for you. Food is on your own, you'll need to buy from the local supermarket (which was so big and so affordable I wanted to buy everything). We cooked our daily breakfasts and a dinner at the cottage. We arrived on a foggy afternoon, without any view. We were mentally prepared not to see any view because everyone told us Mt Fuji is most of the time in fog. Much to our pleasant surprise, we woke up to Mt Fuji in all its glory. We were just awed!! I mean, omg, we have Mt. Fuji for a view!!! We made coffee and sat at the balcony and breathed in the beautiful crisp fresh air with that awesome view. We must have taken a hundred pictures. The grounds were lovely to walk among the beautiful trees and other cottages. It was autumn season so we were surrounded by beautiful momiji (autumn leaves). They had bicycle rental, a shuttle to the station and supermarket if you don't drive. A laundry and dryer area. And an onsen. We came to Kawaguchiko from Osaka, via the Shinkansen. We picked up our car rental from Odawara to Kawaguchiko - about 2.5hrs leisure drive. This was very useful as we could drive around the Fuji lakes area - we drove around Kawaguchiko Lake taking in even more awesome views, Kawaguchiko Ropeway (5-10min across the bridge), Oshino Hakkai (30min), Chureito Pagoda (10min), Lake Saiko next lake to Kawaguchiko. Kawaguchiko is really amazing, we want to go back and stay at the Kawaguchiko Country Cottage Ban again!!

For the naturelovers, this cottage ban will amaze you!

We stayed for 4 nights at this quiet countryside of Lake Kawaguchiko. You could literally spend a few good hours just enjoying the majestic beauty of Mount Fuji from the balcony. If you want the front view of Mount Fuji, you need to stay across the bridge. The cottages are clean, spacious for 3-8 persons (or even 10 I reckon) and fully furnished. They provide plenty of futons/mattresses that can accommodate large families groups. For those who like to do own cooking, the kitchenette are well equipped too. Recycling bins can be found in the cottage to throw your trash. Since they don't do daily housekeeping, you may need to notify the staff if you need them to take the trash out. Perched on a small hilltop, Country Cottage Ban offers splendid view of Mount Fuji from dawn to dusk. The cottage is not located in the heart of town, so it will be a pleasant thing to drive. We have no issue on this because we got a rental car to move around and they offer free parking at the premise. I believe they also provide shuttle service to guests. Our booking came with daily breakfast. They will find out from you what time do you want them to deliver the breakfast, in a cute basket, to your doorstep! Though the spread is basic, we find it suffice and the home cooked soup is very delicious. Coin-operated laundry machine is also available. Both washer and dryer worked well. Check-out time is early at 10am. The staff will come and knock at your door on the dot. This is Japan after all. So don't be late on your last day of checking out haha :)

Enjoy your stay next to Mount Fuji

Why not stay close to mount Fuji and relax from your busy japan expirience. In the evening you can join the locals and go to the onzen which belong the place. English speakers are welcome. The cottages are really comfortable and clean.
