Fantastic place We stayed in Kawaguchiko

After few days in Shinjuku we have a break from the hustle and bustle of the city . ..Decided to explore Kawaguchiko and the Kasuitei Oya hotel was quite simple traditional Ryokan hotel but the staff makes our stayed pleasant so kind and helpful. All guest have their names printed.. The hotel provides Pick up from the station, ( just need to call the hotel for pick up and your location). And the room is traditional Ryokan style - which is perfect to experienced traditional Japanese way.. and the hotel have Onsen for man and woman, which is amazing. Staff they will ask you what time u want to have breakfast and what time u want to have dinner" cause they had 3 shift.Usually breakfast u will have it on the second floor which is really spacious, very awesome.on that floor it is divide into 2 rooms.other customers who stays in the hotel will eat in the same room but on separate tables plus on each table it has their own room number...:-)..carrying on to dinner the staff will serve you in your room."how awesome is that" Shintaro his the one always go beyond to make our stay memorable.. Highly recommended!

A great place to rest after climbing Mt Fuji!

We loved our stay here in a traditional style room with open air bath! Soaking tired muscles while looking over the lake was a treat and a highlight of our stay. Our room was large and comfortable and the service very friendly , the shuttle to and from the train station was particularly convenient ! Breakfast was awesome - you should definitely book it at least once during your stay here to experience a traditional Japanese style breakfast. Location is great for access to attractions around the lake and if you are lucky you may get a view of Fuji San from the viewing area on the 7th floor. The location is a charming lakeside resort town and we loved our stay here - a reprieve from the pace of Tokyo. Highly recommended!

Customer service is good; great ryokan and onsen experience

Excellent view from hotel balcony. Staff service was gooood! Great that they had private onsen for familily unit like us, with small kids. Would return if given a chance. The bathtub could be bigger. Though overall staff customer service was great, not all staff were able to speak English fluently. This resulted in misunderstanding on the charges at checkout. When explaining the itemised items at checkout, I was told charges for breakfast instead of hot spring tax. This resulted in clarification via emails as room I booked was inclusive of breakfast.

Wonderful stay - a few more days would have been great!

We checked into Kasuitei Oya for just one night, as we were visiting Kawaguchiko and Mount Fuji en route from Tokyo to Matsumoto. The hotel sent a collection shuttle bus to the train station and was there in a flash. The staff at this hotel were excellent - they were very attentive and happy to spend time suggesting local things to visit. The room itself was beautiful with a great outlook over the lake. We booked a Western style room, which still had the traditional tatami mat area for relaxing but also had a raised Western style bed, which we enjoyed. We really enjoyed the baths and considered booking the private bath for an hour. In the end we just used the standard baths and the outside one was really lovely. I watched the full moon rise from the bath overlooking the lake - magical moment. Although you don't get a Fuji view from the baths or the room in the hotel, there is a balcony up on the same floor as the baths where you can see Fuji. The location of the hotel is brilliant - you can easily walk to restaurants and everything else you need. We spent a nice evening at a very nearby Izakaya called Cooliya bar, recommended by the hotel and a great place for some tasty plates and a couple of drinks later in the evening. We had the traditional breakfast in the morning. There were a lot of dishes within the breakfast - beautifully presented but a little bit too much food for me in the morning, with some of the dishes a bit on the experimental side for us! Overall, a great stay and would recommend.

Our first visit to Lake Kawaguchiko

The hotel was a bit dated and relatively small especially the washroom. My Sister and I ended up knocking ourselves multiple times as we were not used to the limited space in the bathroom. However, we were impressed by the excellent services provided by staff from serving welcome drink, showing us to our room, explaining the room amenities to arranging shuttles from the hotel to Kawaguchiko station. The dining experience was fabulous as we have private space to slowly dine and savour the food even though we did not get to dine in-room. Just a point to highlight that the dinner menu was too much for average eater to finish, perhaps Chef would like to reduce the portion or the number of menu items served. My Sister and I loved the private onsen that lasted about 50 mins. The onsen room was well equipped with facial products and toiletries. The private onsen was very clean and well-kept with cleaning performed after each booked session. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Kasuitei Ohya. Though, its a bit pricey but its definitely worth the spend.
