Luxurious surroundings spotless accommodation and incredible staff

We came as the season was ending for a budget break with good weather being our main priority. We received so much more than we expected, The hotel lobby is so grand a cosy corner with roaring fire and a bar doing happy hour drinks . The spa downstairs was closed due to Covid but a free massage was available and with so much to do it didn't matter, very near a bus line that takes you along the coast linnet neighbouring villages. The food was incredible with so much choice. I especially loved the very gentle cats that visited - although not encouraged by the hotel.Angelos a couple of minutes down the beach can rent you a jetski or paddle boat for a very good price and the sea was so warm in October, there are two pools and outdoor bars, hammocks, and so many places to lounge and the hotel offering yoga and children's activities too . The gardens were maintained daily and looked immaculate! The staff worked such long hours but were always smiling behind their masks!

    Perfect stay under the circumstances

Got back this morning from a weeks stay at this hotel. Firstly the hotel is an hours drive from the airport so its not too bad. The grounds the hotel is on is huge (we got taken to our room on a caddy) - very scenic with its own private beach. Many staff are very good in particular Vasilis - always happy to help, goes the extra mile and looks after you. If you enjoy a holiday with lively bars and plenty of entertainment I wouldnt come here. The closest town/village is around 20 minutes away in a taxi and the hotel itself didnt have any entertainment on at all (maybe because of Covid Im not sure) but it was disappointing. The food was basic but nice with plenty of choice. We had a meal at the Magnolia bar which is part of the hotel which was very nice but is not included in your half board/all inclusive package. There is a small shop in the hotel but theres not much they have on offer which I found bizarre as the nearest shop is miles away. The woman who worked in there was also very rude at times. If youre looking for a holiday with some amazing scenery and just to chill Id definitely recommend coming here.

    Top rate relaxation.

There for the last week of their season. The quality of accommodation could not be faulted. A wonderful friendly welcome even though it was late at night. All staff very cheerful and fully compliant with Covid-19 rules. My package included a complimentary bottle of wine in the room, a voucher for a free cocktail at the beach bar plus 50 credit on my room account. The food was of good quality with a varied selection and served in a bright environment with plenty of space at either inside or outside tables. There was also a separate restaurant with a la carte menu where the food was of exceptional quality and provided at 30% discount as I had half board accommodation. The lounge/reception area was comfortable with drinks of all kinds available and included a happy hour every evening. The beach area was private for guests, clean with more than enough sunbeds, a lovely beach bar with wide selection of drinks and snacks. There was also a beautiful, clean pool area with its own bar which I used only once as I prefer the beach. The crowning glory was the staff, who were always happy and welcoming and could not be praised too much. I left on the last day of the season and was in fact the last guest to leave the Hotel as I had a late flight. I was allowed to keep access to my room until 7pm when my transport to the airport arrived, so enjoyed a full final day on the beach with once again superb service and wonderful weather Overall, a fantastic place to visit and I could thoroughly recommend it to anyone, be it a lone traveller like myself, a couple or a family group as all are very well catered for. A must place to visit.

Mixed feelings of our trip - great & bad points..

There are a lot of great things about this hotel hence why I'm giving it 4 out of 5 but we came across quite a few things which really let it down and didnt reflect a 5 star. We were travelling as a trio of friends and our friends son who is 3 years old. The good points: - Great a la carte restaurant, its got beautiful decor & the food was really good. They had a band playing one night which was nice. - The main pool area is lovely with the bean bags & white day beds - The mojitos made by the lady at the pool bar were one of the best we've had (9 a cocktail) - The weather for mid October was great - All the staff were actually really nice and made an effort to talk to us - The buffet restaurant had some nice options, desserts were lovely - Really great prices to stay at the hotel - The sea is really calm at the beach - Great pizzas and tortillas at the beach bar -The hammock area is really nice and relaxing - Lots of sunbeds on beach and pool area - The grounds of the hotel are really well kept and beautiful, lots of flowers and palms - They do happy hour (50% off selected drinks) in the lobby every evening - The aqua aerobics was good - There's lots of cats around the hotel especially at meal times (good for animal lovers, not so good for allergies) The not so good points: - The hotel is half renovated and I would not class it as 5 star (4 star for now until its finished) - The family rooms are very dated (3 star) and the kitchen didn't even have a sink (just a shelf with a kettle and a fridge under it) - The beds in the family room were SO uncomfortable, we all had back ache after 5 days and probably the worst bed I've slept in. - The front door didn't make you feel very secure as there is no lock from the inside, just a card key to get into the room. If you had young kids sleeping in the lounge it would be easy for them to open the front door as theres no way to lock it. - There is no air conditioning in the lounge of the family room (luckily it was end of season) - The family rooms don't have lifts to access each floor, not good for wheelchair users or families with pushchairs. We had to try and carry a sleeping child in a pushchair up 4 flights of stairs which was so awkward to do. Most nights we had to wake him up because it was too difficult. - The flooring of the kids pool was really gritty and not nice to walk on or sit on. Really needs renovating. - The photos of the beach are deceiving on the website and its not as wide as it looks, the sunbeds are tired and need replacing - The gym is only open from 9am and has no air con (most gym go-ers get up early to get it over and done with) - The indoor pool and spa was closed which was not mentioned on website - The lobby is really dated, old beige leather sofas and mismatch furniture reminded me of my nans living room with bridge tables (3 star at most) - The music round the pool area is questionable - they just play a local radio but no songs you've ever heard of. I dont mind listening to Greek music but a bit of variety would be nice. - There was no evening entertainment at the hotel (apart from 1 night at the a la carte) so no atmosphere of an evening. - After each day they spray down all the seats at the pool area/outside chairs of the a la carte restaurant and then don't dry them, meaning you couldn't really sit outside after dinner without getting your clothes wet. I asked for someone to dry them down and they gave us some napkins...... not quite enough to dry it though. It would have been really nice having the pool bar open in the evening as its really nice to sit on the bean bags, my suggestion would be to have some sort of entertainment for adults at the main pool area (like a singer, a DJ playing chillout music or even a band) where you can sit and have a cocktail and enjoy the evening. Things that went wrong: - The shuttle booked by the hotel was over booked and didn't have enough seats for us - this was rectified by the hotel arranging us a taxi which we were happy with but we still had to wait a long time with a 3 year old who was getting irritable, we had to get all our luggage off the bus after realising there wasn't enough seats... - We kept losing electric, it happened 3 out of 5 days we were there and we had to call/go to reception at least 4 times to tell them. One night we sat in the dark for 3 hours before someone came to fix it. Each time they eventually rectified it but there was no apology given. I requested for us to change rooms which was agreed by Andreas at reception if it happened again (and it did) but we were never moved and the electric began working again. Lots of wasted time on our part waiting in the room for someone to come and fix it. - My friends little boys Mr Men books just vanished one day after the maids had been in to clean... I can understand if 1 had disappeared but it was 5 in total which is too much of a coincidence. We checked the entire room from top to bottom and they could not be found. My only thought was that maybe they were wrapped up in the bed sheets which were then removed and taken away to be cleaned. I asked reception to email me if they found them but haven't heard at all. I know they are only books but as part of a collection its a bit frustrating for her to now try and get replacements and makes me question what else has gone missing from other guests rooms. - We asked reception where the nearest shop/supermarket was and was told 20 minute walk or 5 in a taxi, we decided to walk there and taxi back. Once we got out of the hotel grounds and asked for directions we were told 30 minute walk.... It was a really uneven dirt track/back alley which went up a steep hill, majority was a high incline on a dual carriageway so a little sketchy. Definitely not suitable for unfit people like myself but we made it. I definitely would not recommend if you have kids as its a hard walk. We asked the shop keeper to order us a taxi back to the hotel (using the contact card given to us) and we were back at the hotel within 2 mins. I must note that the taxi driver asked for my hand through the screen when we got into the taxi (thinking he was going to give me a mint or something) and he kissed it which made me feel really uncomfortable for the entire journey. Baring in mind we are in a pandemic I thought it was inappropriate for a "luxury car service" to do something like that to 2 youngish girls in their mid 20's. Not a reflection on the hotel but this is the company they use for taxis.... I understand due to Covid we dont know the whole circumstances as to why the hotel is only half renovated. The parts which are renovated are absolutely lovely (the main pool area, a la carte restaurant, the relaxing area with the hammocks and the buffet restaurant) but the rest is very run down especially the room we had and the children's pool. I think once its all renovated it would be a really nice hotel. Because our stay was so cheap we gave the hotel the benefit of the doubt. Overall we had a nice stay, it was boring in the evenings so we probably wouldn't go back unless the hotel was finished being renovated and they provided some sort of entertainment in the evenings.
