Happy week at the Karl SchranzStayed over New Year 2020 Hotel is owned and run by a famous Austrian ski champion and his family. Plenty of history to look at in the hotel. Rooms are spacious with great views. Beds could be a little wider.... Wellness centre is very welcome after a hard day on the slopes. Lovely view of the mountain from the very hot sauna (we kept our trunks on, some others did too.....some didn't), pool temperature is bracing. Top barman (Dominik) kept us entertained and the service was exemplary. Food..good choice at breakfast, self service....cooked and continental available. Dinner is more formal with waiter service. Staff very efficient and Heinz will warm up eventually and crack some one liners. Hotel is a good walk from the town centre so we made good use of the hotel's minibus shuttle to and from the main lifts. Otherwise a taxi is 10 euro flat rate. Pack a tuxedo if you are planning to be there over New Year! We didn't. Many thanks to all at the Karl Schranz

Back after 4 years and as good as ever!We returned after a few years having had a wonderful experience last time we stayed and therefore had very high expectations which were certainly met! We had a brilliant week of skiing and loved the hotel just as much as last time we came. The wellness area is great and the lounge area is super cosy and the perfect place to unwind. Our room had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The food was of a great standard as was the service. Special thanks to Goran for an excellent shuttle bus service and Dominic behind the bar! We will be back for sure and won't wait so long this time!

Fantastic Place to stay with a GroupWe stayed 1 week in this hotel with a group of 45 and the stay exceeded my expectations. The only issue I had was that it was too hot in the hotel and that they wanted us to sit at the same place everyday for breakfast and dinner. No one complained about the bed rooms. The dinners were excellent; the cook actually received a standing ovation when he came out during our last meal. Dominik at the bar was labelled by some as the best bartender in the world. The breakfasts were varied and catered to all needs and desires. Heinz in the restaurant was very accommodating and was always trying to please those with allergies. The sitting area near the bar was big enough to cater to those who wanted to hang out after skiing or after dinner. I made daily use of the pool and saunas but I was in the minority; most of our group did not make use of the very nice 'spa'. The sauna with the window was very special. The pool was a bit chilly but one got quickly used to it, especially after making some laps. During the week I only once walked down the hill to the lifts. This took circa 10 minutes. The rest of the time I used the hotel's shuttle or bus no. 3, which was free until circa 7pm. I never waited for more than 5 minutes for transportation. We did the right thing to walk to the SPA Supermarket during our first day. There we bought snacks, fruit and fruit juices for the week. We just drank the tap water in the hotel, which was fine. It was nice to be able to talk to Karl Schranz and to admire all the prizes he had won and look at all the pictures of him with dignitaries around the world. Would be nice if the hotel would provide stands with your room number that you pick up when entering the restaurant. Then you can sit where ever and it makes it easy for Heinz and the servers to find you. Just a suggestion since those in a big group like to move around and not just sit with the same 6 or 8 all week.
