If you are a Westerner DONT stay here
This hotel is clean but in poor condition.Air conditioning doesn't work and they don't care. The whole place is out of the 70's. Breakfast buffet is at the low end of acceptable. Bathrooms are small and cramped. Rooms have views of the wall next door. Very little in the way of good dining options nearby. All of our tour group were VERY disappointed

Sorry but there was nothing that matched the name "new grand" . The hotel is quite dated with unwelcoming lifts that barely fit you and a suitcase, chipped door frames and ugly old furniture. The bathroom is far too small and there is absolutely no room for toiletries. A small shelf system like what you get on a cruise ship would suffice. The airconditioning does not work making the rooms stuffy and there is no option for opening your window as it has been bolted down. I guess the only good thing is the location as it is handy to everything but I would see if there is another option before staying in this hotel.

Dated and in poor condition
This hotel was the worst of the 5 hotels that we stayed at on our trip to Japan. The room was large enough and the closet was generous, but that's all that was good. The furniture was old and chipped. The bed was uncomfortable; the couch was so hard that we couldn't sit on it for more than a few minutes. The bathroom was smaller than a cruise ship bathroom and not in great shape either. What was good about this hotel was the buffet breakfast on the top floor. The selection was great and the view over the city was beautiful. We liked having a drink in the bar also on the top floor with a view in a different direction. We were visiting with a tour group and we had a fabulous multi-course banquet in the hotel. Too bad the rooms were so disappointing!

Fairly average
Average tourist hotel quite well located. Rooms not too bad with a bit of room and comfy beds. So remodelling going on but was quite well hidden. Breakfast was ok, underdone egg and no proper bacon on second day. Charges for bottled water. Not too bad for a couple of nights.

We went there for Lunch
Don't forget the local hotels when it comes to dining. Many times they are very easy to get into and have fabulous food and service. We were on a tour and there were two buses of us needing a convenient lunch along our route. Our Tour Guidels set up, in advance, stopping at the Kanazawa New Grand Hotel for lunch. Not only was there plenty of room for our drivers to park their full-size buses, but the food, service, and facilities had all the creature comforts. It looks like a great hotel to stay at too!
