  Great service and comfort, spotless, well located

  I stayed 5 nights and was so impressed by the service of staff, reasonable rates, nice breakfast buffet, comfortable room and they arranged tours/concerts, as well as an excellent driver for airport transfers. Staff care and it shows. Room was spotless and had everything I needed. It also had special touches like chocolates on the pillow. Hotel is centrally located to many attractions. I highly recommend this hotel and plan to return.

  Elegant. A bit expensive.

  As to its looks, it's a hotel clearly living on past glories: great hall, carpets, wall papers, the lights and the like. Turn left as you go out and you are in the central square of this pretty town in Turingia. My room was not big, in fact relatively small: just right, let's say. Everything perfectly clean. Good breakfast in a great room. Attentive staff and definitevly a comfortable place. This hotel does not have A/C, but do check because things change (I was in Germany during a heatwave, but I was lucky enough to get in Eisenach when the weather had cooled down). It's not a cheap place: I paid a double with breakfast 100 per night.

  Character and Class

  This place exudes character and class. What it lacks in size is more than offset. Service has been excellent and Im having the breakfast right now, and its definitely better than most. Very wide selection and good taste. The small bar area last night was mostly full, it was a great place to sit and listen to all the German conversations, which I could not understand. Fortunately, all the staff speaks varing levels of English, so it is not an issue. The rooms might be a little on the small side but that is more than made up for the quality of materials in the room. Nice solid wood. Location is great to be close to the train station yet only a minute or two to walk to enjoy the rest of the town center. And the hike up to the castle was only about a half an hour well worth the trip. Definitely would stay here again. And also the first floor restaurant Zwinger is excellent for dinner.

  Comfortable old style

  Being next to the railway station, this is obviously the old "railway hotel". The location is just fine for exploring the small town of Eisenach with its Bach and Martin Luther heritage. The hotel itself is old style: red carpets, wood panelling, brass ornaments etc, etc. The lobby/bar area is very cosy - nice for a pre/post dinner drink. Since I've stayed here a couple of times I know there are both very spacious rooms and very small rooms. Neither of them are uncomfortable, but you will of course want to stay in a more spacious room. Do inquire about availability for the larger options. Beds comfortable. Fine bathrooms furnished with moderate amenities. Breakfast is served in a vast "conference area room". Standard German breakfast, not exceptional, but you will not leave hungry. The hotel has two restaurants: the "turm" (tower) and the cellar ("Zwinger"). Turmschänke is one of the, if not the, best restaurant in Eisenach. Zwinger is not - it's an ordinary average place without any special charm. Kariserhof holds the old fashioned style in a good manner, a good service level and a prime location. It's all about the ambiance - if you want to feel like a traveller in "the good old days" perhaps arriving by train, this is an ok place to stay. If you are more into "boutique style" you should turn elsewhere. Pracital info: The main entrance has stairs up to the lobby. To reach the lobby without having to climb stairs you should enter from the parking area on the back side. Both restaurants can be reached from within the hotel, but there are no elevators. Turmschänke (going up) has stairs. Zwinger (in the basement) has stairs.

  Nice stay

  Stayed there for some nights. Cosy rooms, surprisingly calm. Bed was comfy, everything very clean. Stuff was very friendly and the breakfast was sumptuous. Only thing that cause problems are the stairs...
