    Lowered expectations...

    If you expect five star service you must actually ask for it ! Your room will not be serviced for your and staff safety God forbid your garbage is piling up and you ran out of toilet paper You , however will still pay the same price no discount for having to clean up after yourself One good thing : You dont have to put out your Do not disturb sign because nobody will . Do not spend your money at the restaurant. Its like dining at the airport during a layover. There are plenty of nicer places within walking distance The views are great from the room and the river walk is very nice Excellent location for leisure or business Bring your own cleaning supplies and hope for the good old days to return

    Great stay

    This hotel is in a beautiful location. We enjoyed the view and drinks on the patio at Margaux both nights of our stay. The room was immaculate and the hotel is walkable to many great restaurants and breweries. I would absolutely stay again.

    Covid -19 Misses

    This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location. Our corner room provided terrific views of the river and surrounding area. The bathroom was state of the art with a great shower and separate tub. The furnishings and electronics were all top notch. I have traveled several times in the last six months and in my opinion where this hotel falls short is in their response to the pandemic. Every staff member and guest wore masks and extra sanitizing was very apparent. As a platinum Bon Voy member at Marriott I did receive the standard recognition but that is where it stopped. I did not receive an email from the hotel until the day before my arrival. I likely would have booked elsewhere if I knew earlier of the limited opening of the property. The Executive Lounge was closed and I was provided a $10 food and beverage voucher as compensation. I understand that operating a lounge may not be appropriate but during my last hotel stay continental breakfast was delivered to my room each day and pre dinner cocktails and snacks were also delivered. The only place to get breakfast in the hotel was a Starbucks for which I was provided a voucher for coffee and sandwich. Likewise the only open restaurant was serving just lunch and dinner on the terrace and in the lobby. The only "glassware" in my room was a paper cup. It leaked after using it for coffee which was only supplied for the first night. Every hotel I have stayed in the last six months had wrapped glasses and cups. Any hotel with limited operations should advise guests of what to expect well ahead to the cancellation deadline.

    Beautiful hotel in the down town Grand Rapids !!

    We stayed at JW Marriott during our recent visit to Grand Rapids on our way to Sleeping Bear Dunes. With ongoing pandemic most of the perks of five star hotel were closed, but still it is very well maintained, cleaned and welcoming as you expect from top notch Marriott property. We hope to be back here soon. Thanks JWM staff for your nice hospitality.

    Disappointed

    Im sad to say that the service during my stay wasnt what Ive come to expect from a JW Marriott. Check-in was smooth, although my room key in the Bonvoy app never did work. Because I was staying all week, I had requested a microwave before my arrival, which was even confirmed by the front desk upon check-in. I was told if it wasnt already there, it would be shortly. My microwave never came. Because of COVID the ice machines on every floor are off. If you want ice you have to call down and request it be sent up. The first two times I requested ice, Mackenzie said it would be right up and it arrived in well under 10min. I called down for ice tonight, once again talking to Mackenzie. That was an hour ago and still no ice. I gave up after 30min and ate my cold dinner without any ice for my semi-cold beverage. Overall my stay was good, the room was clean, the city view from my room was nice, I was always greeted by hotel staff when I came and went. I was just annoyed over the microwave and ice. I may be nitpicking but I expect attention to detail and attentiveness when staying at a JW Marriott.
