Family MealHad a lovely meal, although a little cold in the dining area, and too close to the kitchen. Menu was good and the waitress / staff were excellent. Overall it was a nice meal and everybody in our group of 4 had good food with no issues.

Lovely country innBooked to stay here for 1 night so we could visit a couple of attractions in the area, and to get a little break away. A lovely old country inn, with lots of period features, plus an outside area at the front and garden and covered seating in a marquee, at the back. The room itself was spacious, comfortable and clean, with really good measures in place, in line with the current Covid-19 safety guidelines, which included disposable cups for tea / coffee and a large bag provided to put the used towels and bedding into before check out, to protect the staff. The room itself was furnished with minimal ornaments or extras, also due to ease of sanitisation between guests. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and the included breakfast was very nice, with a few choices for cooked breakfast, including porridge, plus cereals and toast. There was a good variety on the evening menu, including a good vegetarian selection, and we had a very enjoyable meal. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we were in the area as it was good to be away from the hustle and bustle of Matlock Bath, but only a couple of miles away, so convenient for visiting.

Good locationA great location to visit the peak district. Seems to be popular and also quiet but visited just before the November lockdown which may have had an effect. We had to move out of our first room. due to a problem with wasps, not the hotels fault. They moved us with no problems into another roo.. The first room was a little cramped I'm not the tallest but had to keep ducking due to the low ceiling in places. The room was also a little dated. The 2nd room was much better. We had heard about the food but due to the pandemic the menu had to be shortened but the food was still good. No frills just well cooked basic meals. Great selection of beers and very helpful friendly staff
