Beautiful, cosy hotel with superb service & food

We stayed at Hotel St.Georg for one week during a recent skiing trip to Bad Hofgastein & I would highly recommend it to anyone. It´s location less than 5 minutes walk to all the town centre, thermal spa & ski lift as well as public transport is superb. Our suite was spacious for a family of 3 with a separate sitting area & bedroom, large balcony & comfortable beds. It has all the amenities you expect from a 4 star hotel, pool, sauna, lounge & bar area as well as massage therapists & beauticians on site. The most outstanding thing for us however were the absolutely charming service by all the staff we encountered & the gorgeous food. We had booked half board & the breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired, a wide selection of delicious food & high quality standards. Equally dinners were always fabulous with a wide variety & an outstanding fish buffet on Ash Wednesday, it absolutely surpassed any expectations in choice, quality & freshness we would have had for a hotel not located directly by the sea. One small point to add is that parking could be improved, there was on-street parking but due to several hotels in the vicinity it was scarce & most people seemed to park up for the entire week, using public transport to get around to various skiing areas. The hotel did have an underground car park but there was a separate charge, something I believe should be included in the hotel package nowadays like WiFi.

Excellent, cosy hotel. Staff, location and menu are 5 star.

We gave just returned (yesterday) from the St Georg in Bad Hofgastein (3rd Feb 2018). Our second time staying there and we will return. The location is unmatched, only 5 min walk to ski lifts and 2 mins to town centre. The hotel itself is lovely, cosy with a nice spa area and pool. It's never too crowded. The staff are the hotel's greatest asset...from Reception (we met Manuela and Yvonne), Greek barman, waiters and chefs, the hotel feels like they care about guests and their holidays. We can not recommend the St Georg highly enough!!! Finally, I had a problem in leaving something valuable behind when I left. After a telephone call, the hotel staff found this for me and are couriering it to Ireland. When I return I'm bringing lots of Irish chocolate for them... Colum

Lovely friendly hotel, convenient for slopes

Overall we had a fantastic four night stay in this hotel. The food is absolutely incredible - lots of choice at breakfast including omelettes made to request, a delicious cake and desert buffet in the afternoon, and five course dinners with plenty of choice (including great vegetarian options). On the Saturday night they did an incredible feast with a grill serving five different kinds of fish on request, hot and cold appetisers, and an amazing ice cream buffet! It was truly spectacular. The staff are really friendly, especially the bar man who does some great cocktails. The location is great, a short five minute walk to the gondola with a spacious ski storage room on site. Our room was huge and very comfortable with lots of wardrobe space, a long sofa and table and a big balcony. The pool and sauna complex are a great way to relax after a day on the slopes - the pool could have been a little warmer but there are lots of fantastic different saunas and a steam room to choose from and it never felt busy (though be warned if you haven't been to the area before - nakedness is the done thing in the sauna, although we were told we would be ok to stay wrapped in a towel....) The only real drawback for me was the lack of tea making facilities in the room as I am a very prolific tea drinker!! We also only had one rather lumpy pillow each on our beds, but housekeeping brought us a second one on request. We also thought it was a bit odd that they frequently played a loud pop music radio station complete with adverts etc in the reception/bar area which was a bit incongruous given the cosy and traditional vibe, though again on request they were happy to change it. Anyway all minor gripes -overall this is a lovely hotel and excellent value - the food really is quite exceptional!

Super hotel, well located, friendly and cosy

Just returned from a wonderful week staying at the St Georg, it's a lovely hotel which is very well located for the slopes. Our room was large with more storage than we've had in many other hotels which is ideal when you're skiing/snowboarding. The food was very good, choices of all courses from a daily menu with omelettes/crepes/fried eggs and bacon all cooked fresh at the grill each morning. My particular highlight was cakes at three o'clock, yum ! There's a wonderful wellness area with numerous treatments, I had a mud wrap which was so relaxing, but difficult to wash off afterwards, took 2 showers to remove it all .... The swimming pool is amazing, temperature around 28 degrees I believe, so easy to get into. It's almost empty during the day which is just as well, it could do with being a little wider so if there's more than 6 people it can seem busy. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and English is spoken by many. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Bad Hofgastein, it added to a great holiday.

Great location small comfortable hotel with excellent food

This hotel was excellent for our family needs. Great variety for breakfast and good evening meals. Nice cakes at teatime but you get charged for tea and coffee. The only big criticism was the lack of decent pillows.
