Absolutely disappointingWe spent a night at Jinnies Place middle of March 2012 and it was totally disappointing. The bungalow itself and the pool were ok. But service was not even existing. It was like we (as guests) did not exist and are more a burden than something positive. No one spoke English. The simplest questions could not be answered. Wireless was not working. Breakfast (we paid for it) was not provided. The "restaurant" was not even manned. There is no shop in the direct neighbourhood. So we went to the restaurant and hoped for someone to sell us at least a bottle of water. No one came although they saw us waiting there (reception is only a few meters away from the restaurant). We booked 2 nights but left frustrated after one day. When we left they just took the keys and did not ask for a reason or said Goodbye. We changed hotels and locations in Thailand a couple if times. But we have never experienced such a poor service! That was absolutely uncommon for the very obliging and friendly people in Thailand.

No smiles at this place - unless you have a sense of humour akin to John CleeseSo if you appreciate the English comedy Faulty Towers you may enjoy this place. Firstly the positives though; the rooms are large and the bathrooms outdoors and a tad quirky, the best feature is the swimming pool. If you are into swimming for fitness then it is big enough to swim a few decent lengths. The bad side is the lack of maintenance, the grounds look sad and not managed with long long grass. The outside shower is a joke as you get dirtier walking though the undergrowth to get from it to the pool. The main thing that lets the place down is the staff. We have been travelling S.E.A for almost a year and a half and the owner is the rudest person we have met. She agreed a price of 1,000bhat per night (including a breakfast but she refused to let us have an egg at that price). She said that the rooms should be 2,000bhat a night but I can not imagine anyone paying more than we paid it just is not worth it! The manager said the place was busy and that we just missed everyone because they got up early and went out, amazing that we didn;t see people for days on end, all other places in AONang were full and we needed a holiday from travelling so we just buttoned down the hatches and enjoyed the pool on our own. The manager blanked up pretty much for the whole of our 9night stay in the end, not one single smile did she give us. The rest of the staff were lazy, I don't like to use that word but they were. Husband ordered food one lunch time.... that was a saga..... another morning I asked if I could buy a pancake (instead of the dried bread and fruit...) I was told 'No'. The staff member walked off very loudly shouting at another member of staff in Thai - with the only English word being 'pancake' I am not paranoid but I think she may have been talking about my cheek for asking her to do some work and cook a pancake.... All in all if you want a swim and you are good at negotiating then 1,000 is the absolute max you should be paying for this place. The owner is so very rude (would like to say now that her daughter whom we saw when we first checked in was very very lovely and happy and smiley - but sadly we only saw her the once.....), the rest of the staff are emulating the owner and the 'resort' is tired and all a tad messy'.

Don't go unless you want to get robbed!Wouldn't go ever again! Way Overpriced, clearly the place looks abandoned and rude staff! There is other nicer places in the area with cheaper prices. They charged us when arrived there, after a long travel 100BHT for two cornetto ice cream worth everywhere else 50BHT! Thanks but no thanks

Disappointment!Shortly: Did not get any food at the hotel restaurant, huge spiders and cockroaches in the room, we had to buy poison and spray it every night in the room, otherwise those creatures will crawl on you bed. The place it totally "dead"!

NEW OWNERS! Now called Raks Thai and a nice place off the busy beachWe had some initial trouble gettng a transport from Krabi Airport and arrived at Jinnie's which is now called Raks Thai under new management in a rain squall with roadwork after winter floods making it look a bit doubtful. Yet we stayed and stayed - a full week. The freshwater pool is great, clean cool. Most cottages are brick with outdoor bath and toilet but modern and efficient. Just 7 minutes walk to the less busy east part of Ao Nang but 10 restaurants within 15 min. walk, a money exchange and 7-11 just up the road. We got a great 1,000 baht island speed-boat cruise arranged with quality van pickup and had only some puzzles about room-cleaning schedules. New owner also runs the Muay Thai boxing stadium across the street. Some noise at night - but mostly birds, and some insects at night. This is NOT the 5-star resort and does not claim to be. Good value for money. Relax and let down the hair at this modestly but decent mini-resort.
