A decent hotel in a small town

I go to Hai'an every year because my company has corporation with Hai'an Pengfei Inn, and I always choose Jinlong Hotel for short-term accommodation. It is in the town centre, close to supermarkets, shopping malls, and food shops. It is very comfortable to live in the single rooms as they've provided nice bathrooms, tidy bed sets and TVs with many channels including a few foreign channels, such as BBC World. The service is excellent too, even if it's very busy. The food in hotel is relatively expensive, but it has got very good reputation and I suggest travelers have a try.

    You are kidding

1st trip to Hai'an. A very very basic hotel. I understand it is in the middle on the countryside but not the usual standard. Very basic for western standard, good luck trying to find anyone to speak English. Air con doesn't work and water takes a long time to drain from the shower. Glad only one night.

Nicely run very local Chinese 4*

I visited some family and friends recently and stayed here. I must say it's very busy here. I noted on one evening there were 3 weddings on at the same time, and I had a look at the wedding venues/banquet halls(no one was preventing me to enter them), it was massive, one must have over 50+ round tables, each round table could seat 10. I think for someone comes to town from the West and see that is unbelievable, breathtaking in some way, they also have entertainments during the wedding. It was a different culture experience even for someone like me with strong family ties here. Some previous reviews regarding the lack of English speaking staff, not very international are true. But then I suppose if the business only has a tiny percentage of foreigners staying here, the owner in my view has done a great job as it appears it's always busy for domestic travelers and locals. The breakfast is very good and I like the selection of vegetable dishes. We also used one of their private dining rooms on 17th floor. The ambience is nice. The food was fantastic and about £20/$30 per head, that for me is fantastic value compare with some upmarket Chinese restaurant in the UK or the US. It is proper AUTHENTIC.

    Terrible Hotel

The lady who checked me in informed that room service is available but whe I called room service they said sorry we dont provide room service this few days because we are busy! The room service lady een admitted that they did not communicated with front desk regards to no room service..funny and unprofessional. So I went down to 2nd floor for my dinner and ordered noodle soup..guessed what...came with only noodle and soup...and a few miserable vegetables.... Someone called me at almost 9pm and asked if I want free supper...wierd! Upon checkout, they gave free fruits ad insisted that I must have it..funny hotel! The stupid television could not be switched on at all for the whole night...worse television set up I have seen! But the lady who came to switch on was very pleasant and managed to on it but after she left and when I started to switch channel, the TV got stuck again and that's it...I cant be bother to call them the second time again.... Staff is friendly but the hotel is too too old...my recommendation is dont stay!
