  surprising good inside

  I researched hotels quite a bit before deciding on this one. Cleanliness needed to be high, considering the scary reviews I'd read about some other hotels. I was not expecting much of the hotel, just an okay room, but really - for the room rate, it's actually great value. I stayed at a deluxe room in some nights, and a standard room in others when the deluxes were sold out. Both deluxe and standard rooms are in really good condition, with quite a lot of attention to detail in the décor, which altogether looks fairly lush and ornate. The bathrooms seemed reasonably new and were spotlessly clean. Sheets, bedding, etc. were also clean, and did not feel squeamish. The plus side of this hotel is definitely inside it. The rooms look beautiful, as does the reception and small lobby. The staff were really friendly yet respectful of guest's privacy. There was free wifi, though I did not use it myself, several dozen TV channels, a kettle, fridge, and the rooms were a good size. A couple of things that were not good - very noisy guests in one of the floors I stayed at, and the air conditioning vents sometimes transmitted smelly odours across the rooms, be they loo smells or smoking smells. The negatives are mainly outside the hotel. The street and surrounding streets looks really bleak or even downright rough. However, put it in the context of Taichung streets as a whole and it's not an atypical street in the city. It's not actually a rough area, walking at night is okay. The hotel does not sell/serve food but three-five minutes' walk away are many restaurants - both local cuisine (cheap and mid price range) and some Western chains. Nearby are bus stops, a taxi stand and some attractions within walking distance. Overall, a nice little hotel, good value.

  Small budget hotel

  We stayed here for 1 nights before moving to other hotel. It's an old hotel and located inside a small road. there's only 1 elevator and small. The room was small and the bathroom was the kinda wet type since there's no showerbox only a tub with shower. The location is quite good many local food around and cheap. And you could take taxi to nearest night market (Yi Zhong Jie). The staff were all kind and very helpful.

  Great Value, Clean Rooms

  Hotel is pretty cheap and a great value. Rooms were clean and large with big windows and had decent internet. Beds were soft. The bathrooms get wet when you take a shower, because it's just a tub with a shower with no box or curtain, but that's not uncommon. We enjoyed it, and it was in a great location for where we wanted to go. And they had free water in the lobby, it's in a cooler with other beverages to purchase, but the water cups on the top shelf are free.
