  Reasonable hotel in Lanzhou

  This was a comfortable, clean hotel, and a decent price, not far from the train station, restaurants, night market and main centre of Lanzhou. Our modern room was on a high floor, away from the noisy traffic below, so we got a good nights sleep. Staff were helpful, and prepared a packed breakfast for us one day when we were leaving too early to eat in the restaurant. On the mornings we did take breakfast in the restaurant it was pretty good. Our only trouble came when checking out - a Chiinese tour group were checking out at the same time, which really delayed us, causing us to nearly miss our train. However, overall, a decent place.

  Two different "Sunshine" Hotels. Careful

  We went to this hotel from the airport with the intention of checking in based on some of the reviews found here as well as the information on this site. Luckily we had not put down any deposit or made a reservation. It appears that there is some inaccurate information on Trip Advisor that may have appeared due to an honest mistake. There is at least one (much more up market hotel) that has the word "Sunshine" in it. I think some of the reviewers as well as some of the description may be here for this hotel when it was meant for the other. For instance, there clearly is no swimming pool here despite the trip advisor information saying there is. We did not check in but just went to another hotel down the street we already once stayed at. JinJiang Sunshine Hotel appears to be an ok hotel but just very different than described on Trip Advisor as well as being a little over priced. The over pricing may have even resulted from confusion between the two "Sunshine" hotels.

  Not worth a four star

  The staff at front desk are non responsive to any of your questions. And they simply don't know how to communicate. They let people cut the line while you are checking out. And when you reason, they would say" they're checking the room now, you have to wait!" The AC in my first room was not working. At night they changed me to another room which has the same problem. After almost one hour, they finally gave me an upgrade to a slightly bigger room. And the manager didn't even say anything when he left! I waited for room at front desk because the room was not cleaned. But the front desk just gave me the room keys and told me to put the luggage inside myself! I sent a coat for pressing in the morning, and went to sleep with the DND light on. When the coat is ready, the staff knocked at my door for like two minutes! And after I ignored her, she called my room and asked me to open the door! After she woke me up, I called the manager's line very angry. But the front desk picked up, said the manager was busy and they would tell him about this matter. But then, nothing ever happened until I check out. Nobody even left an apology note in my room! This is definitely not a four star hotel. It might be fine if you're just looking for a plain inn where you don't expect much. Still I would like to thank the housekeeping staff. They are polite and kind anyways.

  Conveniently located and overheated

  Nice rooms and comfortable bedding, good Chinese-Western breakfast, fast laundry service, and yet I won't return to this hotel. That was a cold winter day, central heating was working as if heating oil were getting out of fashion. Room temperature reached 26'C = 79'F. No control, no valve to stop this blaze. Windows sealed. Reception thought I should be pleased with well-heated room. Assistant manager phone ring, ring, ring no answer. I had a very bad night sleep. I won't take another chance at this hotel, even on a summer day.

  Just swell

  Been here for a few days now, it's better than comparably priced hotels in the USA. Staff very friendly, if you can't speak any Chinese, you are unprepared to travel here, so have a good translation app or a friend to translate. I haven't explored inside the hotel much but it's cleanliness and location are better than expected. Foreigners welcome, just have some grasp of the language when you visit another country.
