  A place where everything or nothing could happen

  If you travel off season in Norway, like month of may seems to be, then you might, as us, have the possibility to have a hotel pretty much on your own. We phoned from the car due to late check in, we had booked through a web solution, but it didn't seem that the reception had oversight over our booking. This this even more exciting, as my mistress and I am in a situation that demands discretion and the feel that we are sunken from earth. Cozy rooms with balcony with a view. Though, single beds but come on, the best thing is to sleep alone.

  Such an amazing potential, but annoying details and lack of true customer service

  The hotel is at a fabulous location, in quiet and nicely kept grounds by the fjord and invites for nice walks in nature. Food at dinner is very good with warm freshly baked bread, but be ready to pay as it is expensive, even for Norwegian standards. Breakfast is good, but feels a bit underwhelming for Norwegian (very high) standards. We paid extra for a room with view and balcony, and did not regret it. The room is comfortable enough, but rather basic. No wardrobe, no fridge, no safe, basic lighting and just a small desk with a small and old LCD TV, but we were not much bothered by this, as the priority was to enjoy the outdoors. However, the curtains did not have blackouts, and in the summer the room is way too bright and kept waking up intermittently after sun rise (3 am). The bathroom is dated and archaic. The shower drain is virtually a whole on the tiled ground, without any physical barrier to the shower water which systematically floods the bathroom. This used to be the Scandinavian way, but feels rather uncomfortable and in the XXI century not acceptable, particularly for the price of the accommodation. We had two meals for dinner (2 persons) and were overcharged one main dish and one bottle of wine. Firstly accused me of having signed those consumptions at the end of the meals, but after checking the corresponding slips, which correctly stated what we actually had, it was clear that it was the reception's mistake. We received no apology for more than 1000kr (100 Euro) overcharging!

  Bad service, mediocre food

  Neither the food nor the rooms are worth the price. The rooms are old and run down, the shower switched from cold to hot water by itself. The food is ok, but very salty. The room with a terrace and sea view was in the basement and the terrace was unfinished and tiny. No fence towards the water, so dont book this room if you travel with children.

  Very nice break

  We came here for one night, with our dog, and had a terrific time. The room was facing the big garden/park and with a patio door so we could take the dog right out there. The room was very nice and dinner was a real treat, with local ingredients and very nice service. Topped off by the excellent pathways for long walks and sights to see in the area, it is perfect for a short getaway!

  Great potential with some flaws

  Great view from our room. Room was simple but comfortable. Bathroom needs an upgrade. Breakfast was very nice. Enjoyed our stay. Need to comment on the lack of helpfulness when it came to providing a meal, any kind of meal. As we would arrive 1015 pm and the kitchen would closed at 10 pm we called ahead to let them know and asked if they could prepare any food to keep aside for when we would get there, However they could not accommodate so our dinner was a hot dog from the fuel station.
