  Excellent Stay

  I recently spent one night at the Jefferson Street Inn and the hotel was top notch. The room was fine. What stood out was the lady at the front desk on the evening of 11/27. I came in at night and had a difficult time finding the entrance to the hotel and the parking area. I parked on the street and the lady went out of her way to give me directions as to where the true front entrance was (I came in to the hotel via a side entrance and it took a while to the find the front desk) and where the parking lot was. She truly exemplified first-class customer service! So why did I give it four stars instead of five? Because really should do a better job of having signage on Jefferson Street letting folks know where to park and where the true front entrance was. Other than that, the Jefferson Street Inn is an exceptional place to stay when in Wausau!

  Terrible

  Very disappointed. The first room smelled like a farm and the new one they moved us in was worse. Also, the new room had a dirty sock near the foot of the bed and a used bar of soap in the bathroom. Never coming here ever again. I was so grossed out. Update: After I left the hotel, I wrote the review above and I realized I left my blanket there. So, I asked them to please mail my blanket back to me and I'll pay for the shipping. Well, I just got my blanket back in the mail and they sent the dirty sock along with it at the bottom of the package(the sock was damp and smelled terrible). I called them to tell them about it and I could hear the front desk person laugh about it as they transferred me to the managers voicemail.

  Stay here!

  I rarely write hotel reviews as I can have unrealistic expectations, but this hotel is worth the trip. My family visited while skiing in the area - less than 10 minutes to the slopes. The room was clean and bed was comfy but what made it wonderful was the staff. Crazy nice and helpful. The manager was fantastic too! Location is perfect w access to multiple restaurants without even going into the cold outside. We will be back!

  Great downtown hotel with restaurant

  This is my second stay here and my sister and I stayed here on a Saturday night for one night on the coldest day of the year, waking up with -18 degrees with a -38 windchill. Good news is our heater in our room worked well! Check in lady was nice and the process was quick. Our room was on the 3rd floor and it was very nice, clean, and comfortable for sleeping. We visited the restaurant Benvenutos also for the second time and were once again very happy a) that we didn't have to go back outside for a dinner option and b) we had great food and service. I had the spaghetti dinner which was great and served with a salad and bread with dipping oil. Since we were full, we got our dessert of tiramisu to go to our room for later. They packed the desserts in a nice container and put in a bag with sealed utensils which was nice. The tiramisu was great. We both had the small piece but it was really big. Due to Covid19, breakfast was a grab and go bag that we had to have someone get for us. They also served coffee but I don't drink coffee so it was disappointing to not have the choice of juice or water as well. The breakfast was a yogurt, a blueberry muffin, and 2 peeled hard boiled eggs. I don't like eggs so I just had the yogurt and muffin which were ok. Would have been nice to have a few options rather than get what you are handed. All in all, a good stay and can't wait to come back!

  Not dog friendly

  Stayed there for coupe days over the NYE. Brought my small schnauzer mix with me. We had two rooms for that trip, in one was my quadriplegic friend and I was in the other one. I left my dog one morning with her and I went skiing for couple hours. My dog was crying for and hour, thats how unhappy he was about me leaving him with her but she did what she could to calm him down. Later that day she received note under her door that dog was loud and there was no one in the room with him. The note also stated that if it happens again they will ask her to leave. I was upset, because it is supposed to be dog friendly place and the dog had a supervision and he was loud for and hour in the middle of the day! So the rest of the stay I stayed behind with my dog while everyone went skiing. Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that next morning my friend received a phone call from front desk that her dog is loud again!!! Well the dog was with me in my room on different floor, opposite end of the hotel and it was so early that he was still asleep. So I dont know what is the problem at that hotel and whos dog was upset that morning but it just show how the staff right away jumped into conclusions that it must be the same dog from the same room that received complaint the day before. So if you have dog that likes to bark when you leave, or barks every time elevator opens or someone walks by your room, think twice before booking stay at Jefferson Street Inn in Wausau. I know I wont go back there.
