WOndeful Hotel - Just a Pity that Marriott Scews it up

As I'm a lifetime platinum SPG member and the insutling "benefits" that BONVOYBS keeps pushing down our throat is annoying. SPG platinum members lounge have (or should I say had) hot finger food. This hotel had M&Ms. Also, given how few guests visit in winter, you would think a little more personallzation of the shittle bus service could be possible. As long as we avoided the BONVOYBS, the hotel itself was great. Onsen was fabulous in the basement, made better that I was the only guest most times I wnet down. Also enjoyed the private ofuro on the verandah of our room, even at 2am. :)

    Not Recommended

First, I booked the hotel via other booking website, unfortunately the website put misleading words Mountain View, I thought that means Mt Fuji, and I had a reply from hotel said. Its only mountain view, but not Mt Fuji. I contact both booking website and Marriott, I would like to pay the difference and change my room type, of course the first answer was ignored and second was Cannot because that was an non-refundable. Such case happened on my other trip in Japan too, no matter when/where/what I booked the hotel, once I contact the hotel and request to PAY and NOT FREE for upgrade the room, never be rejected. What an international brand? - Broken Curtain on private onsen. Have to be careful if that under heavy wind, it may hit your head while you were soaking. - The worst dinner and breakfast I had for half board in Japan spa hotel. Sorry, It was too bad for me to take any picture. - A 4.5 star hotel, I didnt expect that the shampoo/body wash/conditioner were put on the ground -_- - Room and Room are closed, soundproof are bad. While you were soaking, you may know rather your next room were soaking or not, because you could easily heard from other rooms. Overall, Disappointed! If you wish to stay in a western style management hotel in Japan, this is definitely a good choice! But if I paid $550USD for a night. I would pick classic Japanese style spa hotel, which never disappointed you. PS: This was the third night of my trip, the first and second night, I stayed in other 2 classic Japanese style hotel with same price. Those were fantastic.

    Screaming kids everywhere

We stayed here for 2 nights and spend the first night in a superior king and the second in a double room with private onsen. The hotel is somewhat remotely located, so you will need a car. Our first night in the superior king was fine. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was somewhat expensive (as in most Japanese upscale hotels) and to be honest nothing special. There is a buffet for the starter and dessert course which is nice. The next day we moved to the double room with private onsen. We quickly noticed how noisy the rooms were and heard screaming and yelling kids on both sides and from across the hallway. In the evening things quieted down but the next morning at 6:30 most kids were up again screaming away. So if you are looking for a more quiet and relaxed weekend don't go here or pick your room carefully.

Only the people they like to be in quite place and green mountains

We drove from Hakuba Courtyard to here after 4 hours driving. As a platinum member they upgrade us to Junior suite room with open air onsen bath and mountains view thank you. This place use to be a different hotel and couple of years ago Marriott took over, They need to be improve so many parts service and informations. As a member we always have welcome drink in any spg group hotel but there only one member will get one drink and one snack it was bit shocking becoz these days they don't open lounge so members can't use it. After I get welcome drink and snack ice cream in my room service I noticed why they just serve to only one person, their beer bottle is large one and ice cream was 400gm big one, they should serve more smaller one to serve other members or room.. I travel lot food is my weakness but dinner course was really disappointed main dish chicken was almost cold and tea serve in a cup, nothing special in food. Staff was very kind and helping that's one off the good point in spg group. This a mountain area mostly old rich people comes to play golf with their gf so if like to visit city or sightseeing you should chose spg hotel near city....

    Lovely Mountain Retreat

A beautiful, new, and peaceful hotel in the middle of a forest. Mt. Fuji view from the windows. Wonderful dinner and breakfast. Our room had its own hot spring bath, so a totally relaxing experience....
