COVID-19 Safety Issues! Staff Member Opened Our Door, Walked Right In. No Masks, Etc.Our recent stay at the Island House Hotel was our first trip since the pandemic began and our first time in Orange Beach, celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary. Safety is of the utmost importance to us, as were seniors. Hilton claims that all staff and guests are required to wear masks at their properties, but we called beforehand just to make sure all guidelines at the hotel were being followed. We were assured they were; however, during our three-night stay, we observed several staff members, including front desk and housekeeping, who were not wearing masks. In my mind, this means the Hilton CleanStay Room Seal means nothing. We also saw several guests in the lobby during our stay who were not wearing masks as well as many patrons in the restaurant area unmasked who were not eating or drinking at the time. Several sanitizing stations inside and outside the hotel were empty. The worst experience during our stay though was shortly after we got in our rooman encounter that left us feeling uncomfortable and vulnerable. We called the front desk to ask for a lightbulb for a floor lamp. After about an hour, we hadnt received the bulb, so I called the front desk back to make sure we hadnt been forgotten. A little while later, as we were unpacking, we were shocked when a young man opened our door, entered our room, walked to the floor lamp, and replaced the bulb. We were stunned. Not only did we fee at risk (although he was wearing a Mission gaiter), I could have been undressing or using the bathroom. My husband encouraged me not to complain at the time, because it was our anniversary, and he wanted the trip to be a special one. Against my better judgement, I complied. During this dangerous time of COVID-19, we counted on Hilton to help us feel safe. We fell in love with Orange Beach and are planning to return, but we wont stay at the Island House Hotel again although we are (were??) Hilton Honors members. Unfortunately, our takeaway from the hotel is, No mask? No problem. They did not honor all of their COVID safety guarantees. The Island House Hotel is a lovely property and there was much we enjoyed and could have shared glowingly on Tripadvisor, but, during COVID, safety concerns trump everything else.

Great location and view, nice front deskSteps away from beach, not many people during the Thanksgiving, the facility is reasonably new after the remodel, nice room size, free breakfast for gold/diamond members, order with a few options, grab&go, recommended this hotel to my friends, one alert that the house keeping ladies do not wear masks

Good place to stayBest rooms are corner suites but didn't book in time to get one so just got a regular King room. It was fine, nice balcony and a good shower. Rebecca at breakfast was great. Only complaint was coupon for free glass of champagne was denied by bartender (which was too busy flirting with other bartender to notice us for several minutes). He said he couldnt give away free drinks so we would have to stay at the bar until midnight and purchase drinks to get the free one. Coupon said free glass between 8:00 pm and midnight. Either he was wrong or coupon was wrong. The front desk attendant was very nice (she gave us the coupon). Cookies are so good.

Paper thin walls - dont go if you want to sleep. Was so hopeful. Great location, clean, and nice staff. And then someone took the room next to us and I could literally hear them pee. Bob - hotel security brought up their luggage at 1230 in the morning and beat on the door and talked on his radio until I had to step into the hall and ask him to give it a rest because no one was in there. So if you want to sleep, go somewhere else, because you can hear people the the next room talk, walk, sneeze, and you are in trouble if they doing anything that actually causes noise. I so wish I could post the video so you could actually hear how bad it was. We went home early.
