  FIRST TIME TO FWB/DESTIN

  I stayed at Island Echos Oct 12-15 2019 during a vacation weekend in Fort Walton with my two adult children and my granddaughter (age 9). My son planned this trip and wouldnt tell us where we were going. He definitely made a great choice. We stayed in unit 7NO in the corner of the top floor. The property was under renovation, but we were at the other end, so we were not disturbed at all. The layout was great, and there was plenty of room for the four of us. My son took the master suite, I took the queen (king?) bed suite, and my daughter and granddaughter stayed in the suite with two bunkbeds. All the furniture was very comfortable. There was plenty of storage space in every room. The views from the balcony were fantastic, and the weather was perfect. I did encounter a few problems but nothing that ruined my stay. The shower in my suite did not work so I had to use another one. The angle of the TV in my bedroom made it impossible to lie in bed and use the remote, but I was too tired every night to watch TV for long anyway. There was a lot of noise in that front corner from the AC or something that was annoying but tolerable. Every time we planned to go down to the beach, we saw someone already putting the umbrellas and chairs away, but we had brought our own so that wasnt a big deal. Ive been to Panama City many, many times years ago, but Ive never been to the FWB/Destin area. The beaches were just amazing, and I hope we can plan to go back someday. I would definitely stay at Island Echos again.

  Great Beach Bungalow 4M

  This place had a superb location. It is litterally steps to the beach. No long walk with all of your belongings. It had an easy contactless code sent for check in & not alot of rules to read before check out. Coffee pot was great. Pods on one side & whole carafe on the other. I took a picture so that I can buy one for my own home. Plenty of towels with great water pressure in the shower. Comfy furniture that fit the beach theme inside & on balcony. Cable channels we plentiful. The only improvement I would recommend is getting a better mattress for the bedroom. It was uncomfortable. It was not firm or soft. Just odd. The sheets however were of great quality & very clean as was the entire condo. We did have to keep checking the fridge door though as it does not close easily. The kitchen also has too many plates for a condo that sleeps 4 and the dining table was a little big for the space. But the condo had a great beach feel and came with free umbrella & 2 beach chair set up on the beach. All in all, it was super clean & super cute with a spectacular view. Very relaxing. We enjoyed our stay & would definitely recommend it.

  Unit 6P

  I wanted to caution anyone considering this particular unit. We rented unit 6P for 3 nights and wound up packing our belongings and leaving after our 2nd night. The air conditioning unit is on the outside of the bedroom wall and was in need of service or replacement because it was SO LOUD we could not sleep. It would not only THUD so loud when turning on and off that it would shake the room, it also put out an increasingly loud and unbearable ringing noise. I was up all night as was my 3 year old. Anytime we actually managed to even fall asleep the THUD would startle us both awake again. It was awful. I have traveled a lot and have never experienced anything like this. Aside from the AC, the popcorn ceiling has met its expiration date as there is either mold (Or dust?) on the ceiling of the main living area and the ceiling is deteriorating above the shower. The drain was clogged and water was around our ankles the first time we showered. After falling the office , no one ever showed up to unclog it and my husband ended up using the provided plunger to remove a large clog of hair - really gross and unpleasant to have to do on your vacation. This fixed the tub drainage problem immediately. The sink was badly clogged as well. Other than these things, the condo itself was very clean and the decor was nice. No funny smells etc. The fridge was old but clean. The view of the gulf was beautiful. It was hard to really appreciate any of the good aspects being so sleep deprived and literally fueling our day at the beach with caffeine and sheer will (as us mamas usually do). We just couldnt do another miserable night and we packed the car and drove home after dinner. Management was very kind and understanding and they did credit us for the 3rd night since we were leaving early but it still ruined our much needed vacation. Like many families, weve had a tough 2020 (including our beloved 14 year old dog passing away 2 days before the trip). We were all looking forward to this short getaway and we spent whatever time we did have completely exhausted from being up all night. Some rest and relaxation would have been nice. Maybe next year.

  Forget it

  Booked through Airbnb. Said they would send me rental agreement and never did. Day of arrival no one knew how the family was supposed to get in after hours. I was sick and could not travel with them. Albeit national emergency but they do not make life easy for you. On hold for hours. No call backs Much frustration. Try somewhere else. I hope they respond. Forget Wyndham and look for some other location. Major problem and not worth the worries or hassle for a vacation.
