  Delightful antique house restored into lovely youth hostel

  My wife and I stayed at Tsumugiya for 3 nights almost by accident, during a typhoon, while traveling by bicycle from Tokyo to Osaka. We needed a dry, cheap and cozy refugee from the rain, and it was more than we expected! The place is an old classic Japanese house (probably from early 20th century but could well be from late 19th) that has been reformed with a lot of love and good taste, personally by its owner, Tomomi and her friends. After traveling around the world, Tomomi settled in this, her own traveler's sanctuary, to host all kind of people from around the world, and she does so with great care and attention. The house is wonderful, if a bit rustic: a great example of classic Japanese architecture. Full of stories and great ambiance. Close to restaurants, supermarkets, sento bath, and sites to see. The staff is very helpful to recommend great places to eat, have a drink, or visit. Also great to meet other travelers and back packers.

  Cute and Homely

  This guest house was great. Not to far away from the shrines and amoungst some restaurants. The hosts where lovely and accommodating even providing dinner on request. Rooms are spacious and clean with a balcony to smoke and down some beers.

  Peaceful

  An old Japanese style house located not far from Ise-shi train station, in a peaceful neighbourhood with nice and friendly owner and staffs. Though the wooden floor is lil bit noisy, but I think it's the art of Classic Japanese House. Jaoanese style bed and the pillow are comfortable. Really love to stay here!!!

  Nostalgic Experience

  The guesthouse, set in Kawasaki historic neighborhood, about 10 minutes walking from Iseshi Station, is a former merchant house, around 100 years old. It has very spacious and clean rooms and a pleasant common veranda in the second floor, very good to rest and have some beer during hot summer nights. In the first floor there is a common living room and a very nice and well equipped space for breakfast and other meals with view to the garden. They rent bikes that are an excellent way to explore this remarkable historic neighborhood and can be used to go to the citys famous shrines of Geku and Naiku. There is also an excellent sento (public bath), Asahiyu, about 5 minutes walking from the guesthouse (ask for discount coupon). Very nice guesthouse, reasonably priced and with a welcoming and nostalgic atmosphere. Definitely an excellent choice in Iseshi.

  Super nice place to stay

  It's an old wooden house turned guesthouse. Rooms are bunk beds with some privacy. With warm futon (I went in autumn). The shower and toilets are nice and clean. And the staff was super helpful and kind.
