This hotel needs a great deal of work in all areas,Our room was very comfortable however we did suffer from water leaking from the room above and it took a number of phone calls to reception and messages left before anyone arrived to look at the problem. You could select what time you went for dinner but we soon found that if we went later food on the menu had run out and instead of asking you what you would have instead they just gave you what they wanted. Breakfast was never hot and only just warm could not understand why they did not have burners under the serving dishes to keep food hot like other hotels we have stayed in. The area for entertainment was quite small and only about 30 people could sit so not enough room. WiFi was only available in one small area of the hotel near the main door so it got very crowded. We understand this hotel has been sold and is to be renovated and it needs it badly. The staff did their best.

Last guests before hotel sale and refurbThis stay was slightly tingued with sadness as we were aware that the hotel was to close to guests on the Monday morning, after the last night of our stay on Sunday. The staff, some of whom were losing their jobs, did a magnificant job of looking after us though. The breakfast was second to none and everything piping hot, with croissants and coffee as well. The evening meals were excellant too, nicely cooked and a good choice for meatevers, fish lovers or veggies. There were no horrible frozen desserts and the starters were nice and hot, of a good quality too. Could have done with another choice of potatoes rather than chips every night, but we know these are popular, also for my husband and other guests, it would be nice to have have had some veg instead of salad, although for me personally it was fine, as I love salad. We were there on a three night all inclusive break and you couldn't beat it on value or staff helpfulness. I am not sure it would do to dwell on some of the decor, very dated and the bathrooms, well yes, something out of the fifties - but then the hotel is being sold and revamped, so everyone concerned knows how things lay right now and it would be unfair to comment adversely. We look forward to going back when its revamped and up and running with the new owners next year, but do hope the standard of breakfast and meals does not go down. Please leave the good things as they are and just make the whole place more comfortable and welcoming to look at, without losing the wonderful welcome and attention to detail from the excellant staff.

Coast & Country should be ashamedYes, the hotel had been sold and this was the last weekend, the staff in the dining room were great, the food lacked choice. The bar staff were a farce. Why Coast & Country allowed this to happen without warning customers is beyond my understanding.

Brilliant Service for our Group bookingThis is long overdue. A group of us used Invercauld Arms as a base for 1 night on Monday 12th August. We just wanted to say how much we appreciated your efforts, the service was exceptional. From the point we arrived they made us feel very welcome and was no trouble with our extra baggage (18 of us on a charity bike event, you allowed us to put our bikes in the conference room) and additional needs. Reception were friendly and helpful with us coming and going. Fitting us into a single table with an earlier breakfast was really helpful and was performed with such good service, smiles and general can do attitude. You made us very welcome and we are most grateful.

Great new pubThe Dawson Arms in Ilkeston is the place to be. The landlady and landlord are brilliant, very amicable and helpful. All of the clientele like a drink or seven but are very friendly. The food is great and there's a vast choice of drinks. To top it all there is great entertainment most days of the week. I cannot think of anywhere better to be during lockdown. CHEERS EVERYONE
