    Disappointed!

My friend and I stayed here for a weekend at the end of March. I didn't write a review immediately after, as I don't like being negative. But having read the most recent reviews, I felt compelled to write about my experience. The hotel is in a beautiful location, but we found local buses didn't run frequently enough. The hotel and rooms were clean and adequate, but we were most disappointed that the swimming pool was empty, and the outside areas were unkempt and a little neglected. We were upset as no apology was offered. We had read that Ischia has natural, health giving springs, which tap into the pool. So to find an empty pool was a big disappointment. The breakfast each day was lovely, tasty and fresh. But due to a lack of guests, the restaurant lacked atmosphere, and we were unable to eat outside on a terrace?? We were treated politely, but on arrival, I feel we didn't receive a particularly warm welcome. In fact we were just directed to our room, and left to struggle up the stairs on our own. I just feel that at the time of booking, we should of been informed about the lack of pool, and the whole "out of season" feel to the whole place. Sadly, it did spoil my first experience of visiting Italy.

Not a great experience at this hotel

Just came back from our second time on the island and we chose this hotel due to the reviews left by the people who visited before. Unfortunately I feel like it wasn't at all as I read. To start with the good things , the reason that I gave average and not poor, the location in terms of view, surroundings, looks of the hotel from the outside , the pool, small but nice and heated , hotel clean on the inside, rooms quite a good size. All of these do make you give the hotel a good review . But for me it felt like was living in a shared house where you paid for your room with a shared balcony so no privacy at all , the noisiest hotel ever where you can hear everything and I mean everything , every fart, snore , toillet flush , door slammed and any sort of noise that you can imagine . If you cannot sleep through noise than good luck because at the end of my holiday all I wanted was to sleep. Keep in mind that we were a couple with a 3 years old child who wasn't noisy at all. Second thing that drove me mad was the breakfast which was not basic or nice, it was awful. Same thing every day, some fruits unwashed in a dirty bowl, some croissants for which people were fighting, the cheapest cereals you can buy in a supermarket , a bowl of yoghurt, 2 bowls of jam and jam in small sizes, a jar of Nutella and a jar of honey , 2 types of juice and water and also bread which could have broken your teeth if you ate it and wasn't fresh every day. There was the luxury of a cake , the same every day and of course coffee for which we came down in the first place. that is it, no egg, no milk, no cheese or any sort of thing, no vegetable , nothing , very, very low and the cutlery was extremely dirty( like washed in a dishwasher with no washing liquid ) .I know it's a low cost hotel but if you cannot offer a decent breakfast the forget it. There are people who come with kids and they don't expect this , an adult can starve for the morning but a child needs to eat. Also to top it up there is no fridge in the room ( not in the one I stayed ) so although there is a supermarket close you cannot buy and keep something at cold .Thank God we didn't buy half board or even all inclusive. Another thing , the hotel advertises that they offer free shuttle service to Maronti beach. Wrong- maybe they do it for their friends or Italians but when I asked I was told to take bus 10 and that is it . 7 nights I slept on the same sheet , and the night before the last my son , due to excitement from the day , weed the bed so I had to collect all the sheets and asked to have them changed . We had a tv in the room, very high up , no remote control, twice I asked for it , nobody bothered to give me one. No shower gel in the bathroom, if you as a hotel don't have the standards to put a cheap shower gel sachet in the bathroom then what else is to say. Some rooms have a shower cabin which is nice and more hygienic but ours had a filthy curtain. The coffee at the bar , one day was 1.50 the next day was 2.00 so it's how they feel to sell it, no prices anywhere so you know how much you're paying and a juice from a carton of 1.00 from the supermarket , they sold it with 3.00. It's a shame because the potential is high and good customer service will make a difference in this place . It's a no from me :(

    Love love love!

Such a lovely hotel. The owners treat you like family. Nothing is too much trouble. Such a relaxed place for a few days. I didnt want to leave. Thermal swimming pool is great. Top tip, allow the owners to arrange dinner at their favourite restaurant for you. They come and collect you and drop you back and the food, views and wine are great!

    Authentic Italy at its best!

This is little family owned diamond in the rough. It is everything genuine, authentic and as close to Italian island life as you can get! Just riding the ferry into Ischia you already know this place is magical. The hotel is nestled in the hillside off the mountains via a typical Italian windy road ( so much fun) once you get to the hotel it's as if time stood still in the best way possible. The structure built around the 50's era ( I'm guessing) with cool white walls and high ceilings. You are greeted by one of the owners and matriarch of this family Ms. Josepina. What an amazing person this lady! She's like your Italian mama you never knew you had ! The hotel is spotless. Rooms are small and very European . This is not an all inclusive amarican hotel, nor is it fancy in any way. In fact there is no air condition ( you can ask for a fan) This is a hotel you come to experience the true simple Italian life. The evenings are cool up in the hill and It is surrounded by residents and other family members. You can see the ocean and the stars from your small balcony . The food is amazing and fresh everyday . I chose the 3 meal a day package and was full everyday. You are given choices every morning. Every meal includes an extremely generous assortment of antipasti etc then your main course. The pool is extremely nice, has options for jacuzzi like massage therapy on one side. This small intimate quirky Italian hotel will leave you smiling days after you've gone . Make sure you walk down to the small town. Visit the markets and immerse yourself in the " true authentic Italian life" . Take a bus or rent a Vespa and tour the small towns and beaches . It is affordable and it is True Italian in every sense of the word. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

A nice hotel but location is difficult to reach

The hotel itself was nice, the room was basic but clean but the pool and the surrounding views were very nice and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was average (not much choice), and we didnt have any other meals here so cant comment on the rest of the food. The location of the hotel, whilst accurately described, is difficult to get to as the bus service is not reliable at all and the taxis are very expensive. The shuttle service offered by the hotel runs once a day (09.30) down to the beach and once a day (18.00) back to the hotel. I would recommend if you want a very quiet and relaxing place, but not if you want to go to out and about, particularly on an evening.
