  Relaxing stay

  Had a lovely trip this August. Just needed a week away before the hectic September timetable of most families and chose this hotel literally on the sea front. Paid slightly extra for a room overlooking the sea which was great. Rooms comfy and quite modern. Decor in the hotel quite "oldy worldy" but as you dont sleep in the corridor I don't see this a big downside of the hotel! No lift as other travellers have mentioned however staff very accomodating so if trouble with stairs why not ask in advance to have a ground floor room? Very filling breakfast (boiled eggs/baguette/patisseries/fruit/yoghurs/meats/cheese etc) with lovely staff. Had one evening meal there and said was very disappointing. Waited a long time and food was not nice and certainly not worth the money. Saying that had a burger there rtwice for lunch during our stay which was great so maybe we just got an off evening in the restaurant. Lovely to be able to lounge on their private beach then grab food and potter back to a sun lounger! Not too far (5 mins walk) from the main area so plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby too My other half went in the swimming pool with the children a couple of times and they thought is was a lovely addition to the hotel. What more to say? Will return next year as all 4 of us thought it was a lovely stay.

  Gem of a hotel

  Third time we have stayed here and highly reccomend it.Great facilities -outdoor covered pool,private beach & bar.Rooms are modern and simple,great choice of food at breakfast and Staff are super friendly and helpful .

  Holidays feeling

  Everything was perfect!! The location of the hotel in front of the water was incredible!! We had an evening drink and breakfast almost in the sand We will certainly come come from biarritz where we live and i will recommand it to my friends

  Splendid stay at beach hotel

  Beautifull, updated Belle Époque style hotel. Restaurant and bar on private beach. Large parking available. Dogs are welcome (15/day). Small walk to the Towncenter. Ideal for bikers, for groups. Nearby Ile d'Oleron.

  A nightmare ! I felt like I was waking into a Hitchock horror story. Do not stay here.

  As you walk through the main hotel entrance you are confronted with a large vending machine and a microwave. This immediately told me I had booked into the wrong type of place. In theory it was meant to be 4 * . First 4* i have ever been to like this!The checkin was odd- no greeting or anything that could cause discussion- they presumably knew that striking up a conversation could only lead to complaints about the place , but the real nightmare lay ahead. The staircase and landings are almost pitch black- what is it with french hotel owners that they need to save 10 euros by not lighting the place? The staircase seemed to be covered wit a powdery covering like felt carpet underlay. On inspection it was actually carpet that had been so worn it had turned to almost a powder with all the tread completely worn away. Coupled with the darkness and very cheaply erected fire doors you had the feeling of a Hitchcock horror story and that someone would jump out and stab you any moment. The same vile pretence of a carpet followed me into the bedroom - which itself had been vaguely refurbished. We left after one sleepless night, did not argue about getting our money refunded for the other nights we had already paid for and were glad to be gone. Its a vile place , worse than Hayling Island . Just don't go there. Bookings.com should be renamed bookings .con. The guests that reviews this place as nice must be crazy. i would rather sleep under a car than in here.
