just okay, priced high unless you book 3rd party siteThis hotel is a true 2.5 star hotel. Its very very old, creeky, and thats what they sell as the charm. Sheets had a small stain, and missing outlets in key areas, lighting is okay, just very old. they tell you that it takes about a solid 8 minutes or more for the water to run hot in the morning, and that is true. I stayed there for a wedding, the wedding venue is very very nice and cute. but the hotel... looks like my grandparents house .... if they paid attention to detail and cleaned better it would be cute with the historic look. but you end up feeling like it was slightly dirty. anyway only book this hotel from a third party site, and even then you will be over paying for the room... there is no concierge overnight, front desk leaves for the night and is gone until 8 am..

Quaint (def) Attractively Unusual or Old FashionedWe chose this hotel because it sounded quaint and it was near the historic area of Fredericksburg. When we drove up, we got the feeling that we were in a less-than desirable neighborhood (its actually on the outskirts of Historic Fburg). The hardwood floors and antique furniture make it feel like youre visiting your grandma, which is nice. Like Grandma, however, they havent updated since the 80s. My suggestion to the folks at the Inn, if your thing is quaint grandma, make sure the coffee is hot and ready before 8 am and give us fresh pastries or, better yet a home-cooked breakfast. A little southern hospitality would go a long way toward making me overlook the chipped toilet seats and forever long wait for hot water.

We wanted to leave as soon as we arrived!!We stayed at the Olde Silk Mill as part of a wedding celebration. Our lodging was suggested by the bride and groom because of proximity to the wedding venue. I never checked it out before booking- their website makes this hotel look very nice, quaint. It was a challenge!! We had 2 elderly grandmothers with us who had to climb the stairs (24 steps) to get to their rooms- no elevator. The second floor railing is loose- you could tumble down into the lobby. There is no way to regulate the air in your room- the management has to do it for all rooms, not separately. We had to prop windows open- they are so old the sash cords are broken on all windows. The antique furniture is missing knobs. The lighting is poor at best- my husband had to ask for a light bulb. Outlets limited- the wiring cannot possibly pass codes. Some in our party had brown water in the showers. You have to let them run for minutes to get hot water. Our room was clean- but others in our party complained of mold. Blankets, sheets and pillows were cheap. We struggled to stay the 2 nights we were there! When I looked the hotel up on TripAdviser I found I could have booked it through Booking. Com , and not directly through the hotel, I would have saved $50 per night!! The wedding venue was much nicer than the hotel. If you are thinking of having guests stay here- check out the rooms. We heard the front desk tell a prospective client that she could show the venue but all rooms were booked so she could not see them! My advise- use the venue but do not put your guests through this! It is also on the edge of a sketchy area of town.

This is a beautiful old placeI thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Excellent location, original rooms, beautiful hotel entrance. This is not your standard hotel/motel but if you look for a place with charm, this is it, look no further.

nice old hotel with some edges to itThe hotel was nice enough, our room was in good condition excepting the bathroom fan giving a slight sputter when first turned on. nice historic details throughout, especially the public bathrooms in the hallway. nice old windows. affordable. good location for historic fredericksburg, trails and parks, and carl's frozen custard (a must if you stay here, considering the proximity).
