  5 Stars? Somewhat delusional. Hotel now called Inex Olgica

  I've rated the hotel based on the fact that it claims to be 5 Stars. If it said 2 or 3 Star I would have given it a better score; maybe an Average. The best thing about the hotel is the view across the lake. But not all rooms have Lake Views, maybe the Car Park. The location is a couple of miles outside Ohrid so if you want to stroll into town after dinner the location isn't ideal. Taxis, we were told, were quite cheap. But if you just wanted peace and quiet, sit on the balcony with a drink the location is good. The hotel advertises Air Conditioning. Well it might have but they don't switch it on until June; not even on a sunny May day with temperatures in the 20's C. Breakfast on our 6 Night stay varied from "ok" to "poor". Dinner varied from "poor / almost ok" to very poor. Salads / Vegetables could be as few as 4 items - shredded carrot, shredded cabbage, mushy tomatoes and peppers. Some nights the meat choice was variations on Veal - Veal burger, veal slices etc. Indeed a couple of times the one soup on offer was Veal Soup. This could be a great place but it needs some assistance from experienced people in the hotel / restaurant trade to help / train the staff. Mentioning staff they varied, in the restaurant, from very good (a more mature waiter - sorry name forgotten) down to disinterested, giving the distinct impression they would rather be elsewhere. If visiting Ohrid in future I would look at the alternatives

  Nice place, good food out side of the city

  We arrived to the hotel for 3 nights. The rooms are clean and with the basic equipment (no coffee and no mini bar) The main issues are the AC which is not good enough and no good wifi signal in some rooms. The jacuzzi in the Spa is cold one...

  Not 5 but 3 star hotel

  The location near the lake is superb. But also out of the center. It is old and maybe some time ago it had some renovations. The room I ha d was rather small. Also the bathroom. Clean but also very out of date. The dinner buffet was not that high standard what you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Also the same for the breakfast. And I have my doubts about the prices at the bar. Asked for wine that was on the menu. When I got the bill it was more expensive. Their answer : I got the dry wine and that was not on the menu. The wine on the menu was the sweet one. At dinner I asked the same wine and I had to pay the price on the menu. This is something smelly. I dont like this way of handling.

  Fantastic location overlooking Lake Ohrid but many improvements needed.

  This dated communist era hotel could not be beaten for location in a prime spot overlooking Lake Ohrid, once inside it all went downhill! We were part of a group and on arrival were allocated rooms, all were supposed to be lake views, ours wasn't, we had a dull grubby room in need of refurbishment, overlooking the carpark. There were no curtains to draw at night just bits of fabric hung each side of the window, the bathroom had an unwashed shower curtain hanging in the bath, when showering the water was very slow to drain away so the filthy curtain hung in the bath water. When I got out of the bath after a very bad shower the dirty water was coming up through a drain plug on the bathroom floor. The electric plugs were hanging loose from the walls. Our tour manager was on the case immediately and did get our room changed but only for another one overlooking the carpark but at least it was a bit cleaner although we couldn't lock the patio door onto the balcony. The dinner on the first night was awful. Nothing was covered or kept warm, there were lots of flies, food was inedible, the tables were not set we had to help ourselves to cutlery, on that first night there was just one elderly waiter. There were no drinks on offer not even water. After we all complained the food and drink did improve a bit but was never good. Most of the staff with one or two exceptions were surly and unhelpful. The the newly opened spa was 5 star, the hotel was not.

  Not recommanded

  Positive: location (view) and the staff Negative: everything else, rooms are not very clean, outdated. Food was awful, the worst experiance in this hotel, repetative, often lefts from the night before. Beach is not private but public, dirty, crowded and noisy. Not 5 stars hotel but maybe 2 od 3. Not recommanded!
