Iliada beach hotelI really don't know how this is rated 4 star the room is dirty glasses are not cleaned out when cleaners come in and the hallway on level 3 was leaking water and to say the least the room needs updating just look at the pictures. The plugs are English in the room but they give you a kettle with European plug so had to buy an adaptor. Air conditioning very noisy don't expect to sleep and the beds are extremely uncomfortable. The positive is the food was good and the central location with easy access to the beach and main Street.

Beach holiday ProtarasIliada hotel Protaras Cyprus 10 day stay on half board basis, hotel clean though slightly tired in outdoor areas: housekeeping staff excellent, reception less so, bar staff excellent. Food varied menus but not warm enough plates far too cool or cold, plates removed too quickly! No Wifi in public areas and Jet 2 Rep did not visit.

Great locationWe arrived on 10th October 2019 for a week and had a fantastic holiday. Hotel is a little tired and could do with a refurb so hopefully that will be done in time for next summer season. The hotel is perfectly placed for both the beautiful beach which is well organised by the municipality, the beach has plenty of sunloungers and there are lifeguards on duty and the shops bars and restaurants. The weather was fantastic far better than we expected in October hitting the mid 30s all week.

First to the sunbeds wins! The Iliada Beach hotel sits on the beach at fig tree bay. It is part of the Tsokkos group of hotels who operate 19 hotels in Protaras. Its location is its strongest feature. The pool area is followed be a grassy patch with about seventy umbrellas with two sun beds each. Next you have the wooden Boardwalk that borders the sand on fig tree bay and built about ten years ago, and then the beach. There is a watersport centre opposite and good snorkelling a little to the right near the lookout on fig tree bay. The Iliadas greatest asset is its location - on the beach on the rear of the hotel and the main strip on the front. Unlike many of the hotels of the same generation, the Iliada has not been refurbished. Its at that point when another year will do, but there is also the case for some refurbishment. That said; post refurbishment room prices tend to increase so maybe its a case of being careful what you wish for. The entrance and lobby are fine and checking in was seamless. Our room was on the third and top floor overlooking the Silver Sands hotel which is also a Tsokkos hotel. The room was fine and kept clean daily by hardworking staff. On the whole the staff are friendly although some training would help (but service might improve as the season progresses). To illustrate, after a bar snack we asked for the bill. The waiter jokingly said no which was fair enough and in good humour. But then to forget to bring the bill which came nearly an hour later was not as funny. There is also a clear distinction between the service provided to Western Europeans and Russians. Thats a review in its own right, but Russian and Greek culture, values and norms are on the opposite side of a scale. If the waiters are abrupt, they think youre Russian (or youre acting like one). Sun beds might be an issue for the easy going holiday maker. If you want a sun bed you need to be up by 7am to reserve a spot (not YOUR spot because the real enthusiasts are up earlier). It was my job to do the sun bed run and if I was here alone I wouldnt get a sun bed. We were half Board and the food is fine. Although nothing like the pictures on the Tsokkos website and if thats your source to book your holiday you will be disappointed. The positive about dining is eating outside. An evening meal sitting on a terrace and overlooking fig tree bay is a good experience. Finally the hotel has Wi-Fi which is overpriced and over complicated. The Wi-Fi costs 24 for two devices for one week. I couldnt get my partners or my own android phone to connect at all although I did connect on an iPad. If Wi-Fi is important to you, I guess reception might help. My connection was by sign up on selecting the Iliada network and I couldnt connect a second device. However if you do manage to secure a wireless connection, Wi-Fi is strong in and around the hotel. As a rule of thumb I used to believe you could accurately rate hotels by the quality of the pure orange at breakfast and the quality of the shower. In both cases it is fair at the Iliada. The pure orange is a water and concentrate mix from a machine and the shower is via the mixer tap on the bath. I base my rating on the holiday rather than simply the hotel. The Iliada is a holiday destination and therefore is rated on the holiday experience and price point. Plus Location Uk electric sockets in room Negatives Reserving sun beds at sunrise Expensive Wi-fi Tip Bring snorkelling set, mossie spray and bite soother. Also bring cash as the atm charges and currency rates make them expensive (5.25% to 10% real charge).

Not a nice hotelLovely location, rude reception staff, old tired disgusting hotel. Needs to be Re developed , re furnished. Employing a whole new managment team and staff with extensive training in how to treat saying guests. This over priced hotel ruined our first and last trip to Cyprus. I just cried to go home, only TUI holidays for us from now on .
