  Worth the Visit

  The second time we have stayed at this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff and room very comfortable. The only downside was that it no longer has a restaurant for dinner but there were two restaurants within easy walking distance that offered a discount to hotel guests. Breakfast in the hotel is very good.

  Booking changed by company at last minute to this hotel

  We had originally booked the Ibis Budget online 2 days before travelling ,and the booking was confirmed by email. We received a vague email,2 days later stating that the Ibis Budget was not open and our booking had been transferred,it asked us to confirm this.However we only received this as we were leaving Pau,and after 11 and half hours driving the previous day,didn't want any complications over the next reservation we already had. The receptionist as we were leaving the Pau Ibis kindly helped us out and made a quick telephone call to Chartres to check our reservation. So booking confirmed at new location, we set off and got into Chartres @6.30pm,to be met by an unfriendly receptionist,not in the same league as in Pau!! Apparently he had sent us the vague email he admitted,and further added he wanted immediate payment for our room. He wasn't at all professional,no name badge,no uniform,I did ask him who he was and his role...etc Eventually he allocated us a room and gave us keys... We did have a comfortable room,bed and bedding were good,shower room good too. But lack of sufficient loo roll [ no spare] and no bin liners,minor issues but didn't want to go down and ask mr grumpy,anything...... his attitude stuck in my mind as he wasn't at all pleasant. The next morning altogether a different service from a different staff member.She was pleasant and professional. We didn't have breakfast,however were billed for this [ see photo] we noticed afterwards.Not even a coffee to take away! Thank good ness for our own travel kettle etc. Would we stay here again,probably not,this hotel was by the main roads and in a commercial park,but as we drove through the centre the next morning on leaving and noticed this was some way out with ano well placed Ibis right by the river and cathedral in the centre...and open!! So for a pit stop this would have been nicer. And having not being given any breakfast either.....in any format,we felt let down,and a bit cheated.

  A basic hotel well located between Eurotunnel and our second home for an overnight stay.

  We received s good welcome. The hotel is basic and could do with some refurbishment. The room was fine, clean and &9with a large bathroom set up for the disabled - we had asked for ground floor room as we were travelling with a cat in a large dog crate and we didn't know if there was a lift (didn't obviously see one). The hotel is well located on the southern outskirts of Charters, on an industrial estate right by two major roads. But the room was triple glazed and there was absolutely no noise from the traffic. There is no restaurant (a few microwavable meals available) but there is a small bar with a limited choice of drinks. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet.

  A bit tired

  The whole of this IBIS Styles does not reflect the "Styles" idea of one step up from the IBIS Budget hotels. Both the interior and exterior areas of the hotel seem tired and run down. In our room, the bathroom tiles had been painted over in a previous makeover, and the paint was peeling off. The sealant round the bottom of the shower basin had black edges (presumably mould.) Even with 4 floors, there was no lift. Outside the paved area is in serious need of weeding.

  Stopover on route

  When compared with other Ibis Styles hotels this one falls short. Breakfast selection was ok, Covid 19 measures were average, air-conditioning excellent but the rooms are a let down. Basic motel decor pimped up with paint and bright colour panels. A light in the bathroom did not work, the shower head bracket was broken so you had to hold the head with one hand and shower with the other and the room overall had a stale smell. We had a good night's sleep but compared with other Ibis Styles hotels this needs to look at maintenances and standards.
