  Budget but basic beyond belief

  We wanted to visit Châteaudun because it is the last big town on the Loir heading up-stream and north-east. It is very close to the source of the river and we took a trip to find the same. The town has an association with Joan of Arc by being the residence of John of Dunois, a faithful companion-in-arms to the famous French heroine. After our stay we headed south to the Loire and all points West. This hotel was the only one that we could find in Châteaudun on the web to book from the UK when planning this holiday. The hotel is stripped bare of everything which you would find comforting in a hotel. The floors are covered in cheap linoleum, the walls and ceiling are covered in white and green textured paint (like small wood-chip). The beds are hard and the pillows are thin and uncomfortable. There are micro-shelves next to the beds and a set of 4 hangers on a 10-inch open-ended dowel, but no cupboards, drawers or wardrobe, not even a hook on the backs of doors. There is a small desk fixed to the wall in a recess and a single laminated wooden chair. The shower only has a curtain and there are no hooks or furnishings in the bathroom either just a moderately-sized shelf immediately below the fresh towel holder, the latter not suited to drying towels. Towels are hard, and no hairdryer. Our small room had three beds, each just over a metre wide. The bathroom was suitable for wheelchair access but as the door into it opened out into the bedroom, thus wheelchair access into the bathroom would have been almost impossible as it was, and even with one less bed it would be difficult. There was nowhere to sit outside of the room and one table and two chairs outside in the carpark near the entrance. We will be avoiding this brand of hotel in the future despite all the staff we encountered being friendly. I do wish however they would knock before entering the room rather than just unlocking and opening the door to come in as they please.

  Not Good

  Checked in fine - pleasant lady on reception. Room was grubby / dusty - toilet didn't flush properly. No air con, Shower leaked, Internet wouldn't work properly and the 2 English channels on the TV didn't work. Breakfast choice was poor and all in all we were happy to leave.

  Watch the bill!!

  We stayed here on 6th December having stayed here before. The rooms are basic, but ok for a short stay.There is a steakhouse type restaurant next door which is very good. This time i booked on the Accor app & the confirmation was accepted right away. On arrival, i was presented with an invoice which i paid . What i didnt know was that i had already paid on the app & i was presented with someone elses bill. When i realised the hotels mistake, i contacted the hotels head office. I also emailed the hotel , both in english & french. The hotel has never answered their phone & never answerred my emails. Head office have been no help either.So, if you ever stay here, check you dont get charged twice!

  Over night stay

  Have just stayed here on our return from Spain, welcoming receptionist, easy booking we hadnt prebooked. Hotel is quite dated but comfortable bed and pillows, amazing shower but towels could have been a bit bigger. You can hear noise from other rooms but as a cheap overnight stop is acceptable. Intermarche is near as well as a couple of food outlets.

  Business trip

  Location was good due my business trip. Huge parking which was free. Very fast process of reservation after arrival.Hotel doesnt have resturant, which is pitty. Probably big issue can be during winter time, because heating was on MAX.level and in room was cold.
