  Much improved rooms

  They now seem to have just a double bed (without the single over the top). Shower is separate, as is the toilet - handbasin in the room. Not much storage space, but clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast.

  Everything fine - except the room had not been made up.

  The hotel is very convenient for Dives sur Mer town centre and Cabourg Casino and beach. Have stayed here several times and always been pleased. However, this time, at 14:20 the automatic check in system assigned room #101. We found that the room had not been made up - a previous guest's bed linen still there. The guests in the room opposite had found the same thing. For a time, it seemed as if we were stuck with an unacceptable room - hotel staff seemed nowhere to be found. Eventually we managed to find a member of the hotel staff and asked to be given a room that had been prepared. Was told to wait and our room would be made up quickly. It was - but the floor was then wet through having just been mopped. Clearly the hotel has a defective check-in process that permits the automatic system to assign a room to a guest even thought the room has not been made up. A small defect: as well as having no latch/fastener, the toilet door would not close completely - it was too large for its frame. That was obviously a defect of installation that should not have been accepted at the time of installation and should not have been left in that condition. Personally I do not like the Ibis room configuration where the wash basin is in the bedroom, so can only be used in full view of the room. Apart from these issues, the stay was fine, as always at Ibis Dives sur mer.

  Basic, clean and easy.

  Simple but great. Checked in with a machine and had a code to enter the room. Is literally next door to a Lidl which is useful when travelling on a budget. Microwave available for use. Walking distance to the beach. Great spot for a night when touring Normandy. Breakfast was great too and worth the price.

  Adequate

  The hotel is quite minimal, sink in the room, shower and wc behind separate doors. Breakfast continental buffet. Large parking, next to supermarket, 10min walk from the main road with shops and restaurant. Adequate to spend.

  Way overpriced. Very basic and poorly renovated.

  Stayed at the weekend as a party of cyclists on a charity cycle ride, with adults sharing rooms. We requested twin rooms but were given family rooms with a double and a bunk bed above and unsuitable for two grown-ups. Likewise, the bathroom is stuffed in the corner of the room - a toilet in a cupboard without so much as a handle on the inside, let alone a lock, and a shower right in the room with a rubbish curtain for screening. I suppose it was fairly clean, but the staff were rude and unhelpful. Similar quality hotels nearby cost a third of the price and I'd urge other travellers to use them instead.
