Poor Check In ExperienceI just checked in for a 14 N stay at the Hyatt Regency. From the get go, the feeling wasnt great. I had to ask the bell boy to help with the luggage and overheard them exclaim that there were so many bags, I had 3. At the front desk, Wendy didnt even look up to say hello when I reached the counter. The typical things you go through at the check in experience was missing. I had to ask her after she had taken my card, what kind of room I am getting (to reconfirm), there was no friendly introduction to the hotel facilities (but she did mention breakfast but struggled to explain the breakfast times), no direction to how to get to my room or how I log into the hotel WiFi. Finally I showed her my luggage card and said that I would like to have my luggage sent to my room and she said, Ok and thats it! So I told her that she needs to inform the bell desk my room number and I was pushing the card at her. She finally understood after a few attempts and called the bellboy with my card number and room number. Really! The best part is when she said she will charge my RMB1,000 per night for a deposit and I said NO WAY! thats a RMB14,000 holding charge on my credit card! After I protested she lowered it to RMB2,000. Incredible! Ive never experienced this incompetence before at a Hyatt. After that I had to ask where the lifts were to get to my room as there were a lot of lifts since the lobby is on the 7th floor. Service and training is woefully missing here. I have been a World of Hyatt member for many years and have also used Hyatt Hotels as a venue for my events as they are well known for consistent service and results. I remember their strong service reputation and excellent training when the Grand Hyatt was THE hotel in Shanghai back in 2000. We used to want to poach their staff. My room is large but the window is not sealed well so I can hear the street downstairs. I think the location is good and the mall downstairs is very convenient. I hope the rest of my stay will be a better experience. I picked this hotel because of the reviews but I must say I am disappointed in this Hyatt.

The worst hotel experience everThe staff and housekeeping were both very rude. They refused to provide any help. When I asked for 2 extra bottles of water, they said I only stay for 2 nights, and they said I should not drink more than two bottles of water. I was shocked by their response. When I ask for a late check out till 2pm., which is guaranteed for explorist membership, the front desk refused and ask me to move out before 12 with very rude attitude....

Excellent stay experience at Global HarborI've stayed at least 20 nights this year at Hyatt regency Global Harbor, always received the best hospitality from the hotel, the staff are all friendly and willing to help whenever needed. The public transportation is really convenient, great location and shopping mall nearby.

Stayed for five days. Nice place. Professional staff. Clean rooms.Me and my significant other stayed here for five days around Christmas time. Check in was quick and easy. They gave us some Lindor chocolates which was very nice. Room was spacious and well equipped. We had two beds which was okay. Nice big tv - maybe 60 inches. Not many English channels but plenty of Chinese ones. Room had a safe. Mini fridge. Bathtub and shower. Plenty of clean towels and two bathrobes. Housekeeping did a great job of maintaining the room. Hotel is in Global Harbor mall. Plenty of good food there and shopping. Shanghai Subway lines 3/4 and 13 connect with the mall. Easy access. We ate at the hotel breakfast buffet every day. Its just marginal. Not nearly as good as other Hyatts Ive stayed in such as the Jin Mao. Breakfast Buffet is more like a Hyatt Place than a five star hotel. Pretty much limited breakfast choices everyday. Replenishment is poor. Basic things like no cups at the juice bar. They ran out of butter and when I asked, the girl opened the fridge and tossed one piece on my plate instead of replenishing the area where butter is. My significant other found bugs in her green vegetables. Its not a good breakfast buffet at all and the staff are lazy. Not a worthy breakfast at all. Overall the hotel is nice. And I will stay again next time I need to visit that part of Shanghai even though Ill probably go to the McDonalds next to the subway entrance for breakfast.
