Ghost town in winter? To be honest, overall our stay went alright. It was just not up to a 5 star Hyatt hotel level. The staff is really trying hard but they still need some training to reach a certain standard of professionalism. For two nights at $400 we had higher expectations. Maybe winter is not the best time to enjoy it? It's an accumulation of small details that left a feeling of dissatisfaction: - 5 pieces of luggage and no one to offer some help from getting out of the car to the guest room - During check-in, no incentives about the facilities (breakfast location, hours), leisure options inside the hotel and in the neighborhood, no map provided and no explanation about the system of "blocks" to navigate inside the hotel (we had to get lost once to be given a map) - Cannot guaranty the room using wechat/alipay unlike other hotels in Shanghai - Not being informed about guaranty charged on the credit card and NO receipt, nothing - Room temperature barely controllable, clumsy lighting controls, barely cold mini-fridge - Hotel looks like it's understaffed, we went twice to the swimming pool and each time the reception desk was unoccupied - Animal farm really enjoyable for the kids but could use some maintenance - Breakfast buffet food is very Shanghai/Chongming oriented taste-wise which might not be suitable for everyone. Western pastries and bread not very impressive except for the danish muffin and the banana cake - Building maintenance and touch-ups very clumsy in some areas - Upon checkout, staff did not ask how we would like to pay and just charged the credit card although we would have liked to use a local debit card to do so Good points that need to be emphasized nonetheless: - Lovely architectural/design setting, the seater swing on the balcony is a nice touch - Swimming pool and locker room were impeccable clean and comfortable - Flexibility to add extra bed and breakfast - Overall staff attitude was nice, smiling and helpful with good intentions - Breakfast buffet: wide range of options and constant refill - Large kid play area in the fitness area

Good getaway with dogGreat hotel for a stay with dogs. Hot Pot was complimentary for club room, which was nice for a snack. We booked the twin king room expecting 2 king beds but they are actually queen beds, which is a bit small for 1 adult + kid per bed. Staff was friendly and helpful.

DisappointingStayed for a long weekend. First impressions: its a very nice looking hotel and clean. However it is a sprawling hotel that is spread out so takes a while walking to the room. Check-in was amusing - the hotel received our booking for 2030 - in ten years time. After a very firm discussion from the guy at check-in to the booking team we were given the key to our room. We booked a suite which was spacious and very nice. We had lunch at the Chinese restaurant which was delicious so had dinner there the night we left too. In the afternoon we went to the pool for a swim. The water was very cloudy and just didnt appear clean. In the evening we had dinner at the restaurant on the ground floor which served buffet and a la carte food. We opted for buffet as the a la carte options were limiting. The food was so so. Some of it was cold as the hot plates didnt keep the food warm. My wife asked the chef to make some noodles which he picked up with his hands without gloves or washing his hands first, so requested to do it again which he did grudgingly. Not a great experience. Got worse when I had food poisoning later. The next day feeling rough, went for breakfast at the same restaurant so obviously was off the food and ate basic and light. We asked at the concierge what activities the hotel offered or were around the hotel and werent given many options. They said you can walk to the horse riding and there were a few tours to local places but most were closed due to Covid. We ended up booking a trip to a farm and decided to check out the horse riding for our young daughter. Its a 3min walk around the corner at the hotel (not sign-posted). When we arrived we learnt we had to book but they had just had a cancellation so we could go right in. Would be good if the hotel told us we should have booked though. Our daughter loved the horse riding in the paddock. We then headed off to the farm. When we returned we booked dinner at the Chinese restaurant again as we thought the food there was very good. At 8pm the restaurant called to confirm and let us know the table was ready. At 8.02 they called again to ask if we were coming (note rooms are also a long way from the main building). Food was enjoyable again, but this time my wife had food poisoning. Overall a disappointing stay for a hotel of Hyatts reputation. Breakfast is chaotic and busy. There is no food menu in the room and room service is limited. The room was great but food options werent great (having had food poisoning) and service was average. They have the hardware but not the software.

Few choice on the island, not satisfied but acceptable5 star design and buildings, 3 star decor material, 1 star check-in staff. He didn't understand English. I booked executive room but he could not explain what service they have. Staff in coffee bar are very nice and friendly. The sofa in coffee bar is very old. Breakfast is good. Hotel area includes horsing riding, dog park which are very nice. This is pet friendly hotel. Just stay Grand Hyatt in Shenzhen (Mix City), compared these two Hyatt, the one in Shenzhen is super good. Price is similar same for both! I will choose Sheraton next time. These two are the only choice on this island.

Room for ImprovementWe checked in at 3pm but we only got our room keys at 5pm. The property is very large, all the buildings are spread out and only connect to each other via a hallway. In many ways it is like a maze. A great family hotel since there are a ton of activities to keep the kids entertained (swimming pool, outdoor playground, animals on the property) and the magic begins in the lobby with caged birds singing and chirping away. But my stay is short of expectations and here is why: 1) I dont expect a Nespresso machine but I do expect a minimum of having coffee sachets available, since there are three types of tea but no coffee. 2) If you want an environmentally friendly hotel do not provide shampoo, conditioner and body gel. 3) Ground floor rooms all have a terrace, which is great for families who brought their pets. But do something about your mouldy wallpaper and chipped furniture. 4) WiFi is so slow, I had to hotspot my mobile just so I can finish this review. Hotel is dog friendly and kid friendly. If you are here with no kids or no dogs, you will have a very boring stay. What I enjoyed: 24 hour gym and the breakfast buffet. The coffee bar is very bright and spacious, the staff is friendly and nice.
