Something must have gone awfully wrongWe were looking forward to sharing this Bush experience in a tepee with grandchildren and friends but were bitterly disappointed. Such a gorgeous setting with lovely rainforest walks which in this difficult time of 2020 had its ups and downs. The wood was wet and green hence the wood heater was next to useless.. I slept on the floor literally on top of the fire to keep wood on it every 2 hours to keep it going for the childrens comfort. Even the matches were wet! The camp kitchen was poorly equipped, and we had to ask on 3 occasions for cups, glasses, dry wood and even bedding of which thank goodness we took our own as well. The possums are verging on dangerous, stealing the childrens food off their plates on the table. We are Tasmanian and have camped all of our life and understand Tasmanias weather and wildlife, so that part of the trip was expected, however, the facility is run down and not the retreat it could be with some thought to what is needed to make the accommodation reasonable.

Wonderful place!Stayed here two nights in our campervan to escape the rain. Stumbled upon it on Wikicamps and were delighted to find it was every bit as good as reviewed. Spacious, well drained site. Lovely facilities including clean tidy showers and well equipped camp kitchen with fire pit and wood. The walks are fab with well maintained tracks and informative signage. The outdoor bath was a really welcome surprise and was a great way to warm our bones. Great place to stay, reasonably priced, well worth the drive up.the steep approach hill. Can't wait to stay again!

Pristine bushGetting up the steep gravel driveway was a bit of a problem in the hired campervan- it was an automatic with only Drive and Second gears and I am en experienced offroad driver and I nearly did not make it. Just a warning..... best in manual, or front wheel drive vehicle (or 4x4 of course). The nature is pristine... walking up to the high alpine plateau I passed through spectacular rainforest and then eucalyptus forest. The campervan spot was just a relatively flat place near the toilets, which were clean. However, with just one shower and one toilet for Ladies, there might be a queue if all the camping sites were occupied. Nice hot water for a shower- much appreciated. All in all, a bit too expensive @$34 for what was on offer.

Excellent Bush RetreatI recently booked four nights in a camp-site at Huon Bush Retreats. We were allocated East Walk-in Campsite, which was absolutely fantastic - very secluded and private but close to amenities. My daughters and I had a lovely stay, lots of walking around the well established and informative trails and relaxing in a wonderful bush setting. The camp kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and cooking facilities, and on the one cold night we had the firepit was very much appreciated. We met many other great, likeminded people/families/travellers which made for a great 4 day holiday. The outdoor bath was an absolute treat and well worth the time to fill with water. Remembering to take a bottle of wine and snacks is a good idea if booking the bath for a couple of hours. Will definitely be back again - maybe to try one of the cottages in winter.
