    Worst nights sleep....

The staff were friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for you, the room was large enough for a family. But they are the only two positive things about this hotel...... The hotel is situated opposite a strip club which we were not aware of when booking, at around 2am the people using the club began fighting and causing a disturbance. This carried on for nearly 4 hours. The family room was situated at the front of the hotel closest to the club.... none of us slept that night and the police were not called to intervene. The shower in the family room was awful and the water pressure was nonexistent. The sofa bed was torn and the furniture in the room was not of the quality we would have expected for the hotel. It looked lovely on entering but on closer inspection was somewhat disappointing. Would not use this hotel again.

    Decent

Good value for money. Great location but parking is a bit of a pain. We parked a couple of streets away in a 24hour car park which wasnt too bad otherwise its pay and display streets just outside the hotel. The hotel itself is clean and basic but just what you need. The room was very hot though but a fan was provided. Overall Id stay here again.

    Dont stay here

Very basic and noisy old sash windows that dont fit properly and noise continuous room very small and not deluxe as they advertised staff during day pleasant but night dont even acknowledge you even when you do them. Very very basic would not recommend nothing special about this hotel. The only written notice in the room is you will be prosecuted if any damage done not very inviting I must say.

    Amazing staff

Lovely hotel & staff cant do enough for you. Really big clean room. We stayed in the executive suite with a fabulous private roof top garden. Cant fault it at all. Champagne & flowers were waiting for us (at an extra charge) & very discreetly done for a surprise

    An okay hotel to stay

The Huddersfield Hotel is an average size okay hotel that is around 2,5 stars. - How to get there? -The only way to get here is to walk from Huddersfield train station to Kirkgate (street). Around 7-10 min walk, go past the McDonalds. - Reception/check-in -The entrance is a little weirdly situation, on a high stair on street level. Not really accessible for one with a wheelchair or someone who has walking problems. The reception area looks inviting and modern, but could use some plants, a coffee machine, and some nice decorations. Most cabins/shelves were empty, which made it look like the hotel was going to move or something. The receptionist was very warm and welcomed me to the hotel with a happy smile. Check-in went smooth and nice. - Room -Finding your room is kinda a maze the first few times. Many doors with locks (that can be opened with your keycard), stairs, hallways and more doors. It was dazzling the first time, and I got lost twice. My first room was very small and not the room I had booked. I had booked one with a bathtub. I went to ask and the receptionist told me none of the single rooms have a bathtub. Something that is wrong on booking.com The receptionist was very friendly to find a room that had a bathtub. And it was room 31. A bigger room. The room was okay. The bathroom bath was nice, but the bathroom itself could have used a make-over. Also a big minus were the windows, they were such high that one could not reach them to close them, especially in winter months it will get very cold. One thing I didnt understand was where the light switch of the bathroom was. I couldnt find it anywhere. Most of the hotel could use a makeover. It is a bit outdated and there arent many clear signs of emergency exits, neither fire extinguishers or sort like (maybe hidden?). An absolute plus was that inside the hotelroom there was a red fire alarm, and a smoke detector! But no emergency evacuation plan on the doors. But the red fire alarm is a plus, because you can not not hear it when it goes off, literally next to your bed. The room has a king size bed, and even the mattress is a bit hard, it was clean and nice, with many comfy pillows. To my surprise there was no phone, this is an absolute must, in case of emergency. No mini fridge. The room is noisy, and the isolation is poor, also the windows are not double glass.BreakfastThe hotel doesnt serve breakfast, thats a pity and not something you would expect these days. I understood they are planning it for the future. Their advice for a breakfast... McDonalds, well not really the thing. Luckily one receptionist told me to go to a local breakfast club called Wetherspoon at John William street, an easy 7 min walk from the hotel. Good breakfast! - Check-out - Do to the corona crisis and no more flights leaving, I abruptly had to end my stay. Check-out went very unprofessional you are checked out... and that was it. But it was a young fellow which I dont think had much experience as a receptionist. Pity. CONCLUSIONThe hotel is an okay stay. But it could use an upgrade on its looks. It looks a bi outdated and about safety I had my concerns sadly. Even so, sleeping was nice, friendly staff and enjoyable bath! Quite an okay experience, but dont expect any luxury. Points given: 7 out of 10
