  Little disappointed

  I stayed here for 5 nights in August 2009. To be honest, I was disappointed. Especially after viewing their website (http://www.hotelombardia.it). Rooms were a bit small, and the bed was really hard. The bathroom was nicely renovated, though. The WiFi service in the hotel was horrible. Incredibly slow and difficult to maintain connections. For a business traveller, this is really bad. I ended up connecting to an open WiFi connection in a neighboring building instead. Hotel had satellite Sky TV, but 90% of the channels are non-English. The only English channels were about 4-5 news channels (Sky News, CNN, Bloomberg, etc). Restaurant is decent, but no menus in English. And I am pretty sure the restaurant ripped me off! They charged me two "cupertos" instead of one. A "cuperto" (2 EUR) is a cover charge that is "per head". Why would a person dining alone pay for two? I only paid one cuperto the night before!! Also charged me 4 EUR for a beer instead of 2.5 EUR which I paid for the same beer the previous night. Too bad I didn't notice they ripped me off until later. Good location, though. Right in the middle of town. Good personal service at the hotel, too. Very helpful and friendly. Also an excellent breakfast buffet. For my next trip to Monfalcone, I will look elsewhere, though. Perhaps the SAM Hotel instead.

  Every (ash)cloud has a silver lining!

  Stranded with my teenage son by the ash cloud flight disruption was a lot less stressful on discovering the delightful and calming town of Monfalcone, a short bus ride from the airport. Staff in this hotel are friendly and helpful. The free wireless service was in our circumstances a godsend! - No problems with access or speed. Room was spacious and cleaned daily. A good choice at breakfast and a popular restaurant attached to the hotel. Within easy walking distance to station, variety of local shops and busy market right outside hotel on Wednesdays. Loved it so much I am going back in October to appreciate it some more !

  very cosy and quite welcoming

  I liked the family atmosphere, the quality of beds I disliked the bad noise insulation between room and corridor breakfast is good

  Charming

  Small charming hotel in the center, average rooms clean and comfortable. Room on top floor overlooking square can be noisy if there is a fiesta going on. Breakfast was basic but good enough to get the day started.
