  A New Experience

  The Howard Johnson hotel is not spectacular, but it has a huge lobby and very clean rooms. The buffet was kind of boring after staying there for a couple of days. However, the location was convenient as there was a Wal-Mart in front of the hotel. One of the biggest cons of the hotel was that you needed the room card in the slot to keep the AC running (I recommend shoving a random card into the slot to keep the AC on). Also, this is a non-smoking hotel, but everyone there seems to be smoking.

  much improved

  On my last visit 2 years ago this hotel was the epitome of inefficiency. What a difference! Hotel staff were efficient and the standard of service was good. I only ate here at breakfast but this was again much improved from my previous visit. The room was large clean and a very comfortable bed. Wi fi is free in the room. For a business visit this was a more than comfortable place to stay at an inexpensive price.

  A very Decent hotel

  Stayed there for three nights on work and it was a pleasant experience, breakfast spread was decent and the service was extremely good. Rooms where neat and clean and worth the money, located centrally and you can walk around for some decent food joints.

  Would be a 3-star hotel anywhere else

  I recently stayed here for eight nights on a work trip. This is the only Western five-star hotel in Changle, meaning that they charge five-star prices, but it has not been maintained and the staff are apathetic. People can smoke on all of the floors except the 10th, so the rooms smell. I stayed in an "executive room" in which the internet went out three separate times and I had to call an IT person to come fix it. I have no idea how someone who does not speak Chinese would deal with the staff. The breakfast is very Chinese, which is not a problem, except that all of the dishes are made first thing in the morning and then become cold right away. There are no amenities such as a gym or a pool. They also don't vaccuum the carpets between guests, so if you want a clean floor, you have to specifically ask them to do this. In all, not worth the $120 per night that I had to pay.

  Best of a bad bunch

  Factory put me into this hotel as it was close to them. Only one night so no big deal. The breakfast is pathetic and the rooms are dated. My bathroom floor was filthy and god knows what was on it...I threw towels down so I didnt have to walk on it. Construction next door going all night. Suggest to drive an extra 30 mins and stay in a decent hotel. Thank god I had sleeping tablets. Never again.
