  Barking Dogs

  It's a cute hotel/guest house. The rooms are unique and lots of trees and greenery around. Kind of rustic but maybe too old-style for some. The biggest problem is if you stay in the building that has a dog daycare area on the ground floor. With many dogs staying together, there are frequent times when 3-8 dogs are all barking at once. It is very loud, and the owner/operator can't seem to control them. If you like to have your windows open when the weather is not too hot, this is a big problem.

  Unfulfilled potential

  We spent 4 nights at House by the Pond. We loved the location, the size and comfort of our spacious 2-room suite with kitchen, the quirky touches including nice rooftop pool and garden with chickens as well as the second garden and pond at the "other" part of the hotel across the street. While low nightly rates make this a good value, we would gladly have paid a bit more to see this lovely old property brought up to its full potential. Our room, while meeting basic standards of cleanliness, could only be described as shabby - about 10 years overdue for a paint job and some new towels and bedspread. The front desk was almost never staffed during our stay, and we were provided with just one roll of toilet paper and two tiny bars of soap for the bathroom; the kitchen had some dishes but no dish towel or soap.

  Home away from home

  I would really recommend this place to anyone whos travelling to Bkk. Right in the heart of the city, yet away from all the hustle bustle. Just the place of youre looking for a relaxing vacation. They even have a swimming pool with the most amazing view on the rooftop. Seven eleven is just 5 minutes away and the area is filled with street food, incase you get hungry. One of the most beautiful properties Ive ever stayed in. They also have cute little dogs who are super friendly. It truly is a home away from home.

  The absolute worst accommodation!

  Lived here on a long-term contract, but understood already after the first bill on electricity that it was a scam! This company charges huge sums for the electricity and they put in units to get even more paid! The rooms are old and worn and almost the entire staff and the owners are very unpleasant and very threatening as I question the cost of electricity. I canceled the contract because of this but never got the deposit back and no money back for the large extra amount I paid each month. There were many in Bangkok that I met who had the same opinion as me after they had lived there before. Beware of this place!

  "A place of peace, tranquility and serenity?" as advertised, NOT so much.

  I did stay as a long stayer from 2017 to 2018, well before the pandemic. Biggest complain I have are two things. Annoying dogs that keeps on barking. I had to changed room two times because of this, and the owners don't really do anything else. They decided to make on of the rooms to a dog daycare. Insane decision for people who come to look for peace and quiet. Then we have this about the electric. They NEVER show you how much you have used, they just set up a number on the rent bill for you to pay. When you ask about the electric, they either don't know where the meters are, or they try to talk around it. Even other people who did NOT use the aircon for a month gets a monthly bill well over 2000 baht. I used it less and less during my stay, but the electric cost got higher each month. Weird equation. This place have a great potential, but with the dogs and electric, i cannot recommend this. The only positive thing was the cleaning lady who was very helpful with some things. And the pool area is cosy.
