Charming hotel and good foodHotel Val d' Or is located in the Centre of the wine town of Mercurey in the heart of Burgundy. It is a small nice hotel run privately with boutique character. The rooms are spacious and decorated to give a warm atmosphere. The furniture is new. Some of the rooms are equipped with a French bed of 150 cms, but rooms with double beds are available. The hotel is located on a busy thoroughfare but traffic quietens down at night. The rooms giving onto the garden are quiet. A bottle of water is in the room. WiFi worked perfectly. As the rooms have no air conditioning, they could be quite warm in summer. The breakfast is charged 10; is served at the table; and is good for French standards. I can warmly recommend the restaurant where traditional and tasty cuisine of the Burgundy region is served. A 3-course menu is offered for dine for 25. A large selection of wines will is available in all the price range. During the summer month a garden terrace is welcoming guests. A living room, which is used as a wine tasting room is located in the annex. Parking is available in the courtyard or on the opposite side of the road.

Stopped for lunchStopped for lunch while sightseeing. Ordered the special of the day which was pork medallions with a nice sauce, potatoes. Desert was an attractive and very good pineapple concoction. Reasonable price, terrific service, charming location. Will do it again. I recommend this place

Lovely small hotel in wine making villageWe enjoyed our 1 night stay. Arriving after a long drive, we were able to have a lovely walk around the village before dinner with the car safely parked in the garage. The food at dinner was excellent and well presented, with a good choice on the set menu and excellent local wines by the glass. Our room was spacious and very comfortable (even tea making) and breakfast the next morning plentiful and tasty. We were so taken by both the hotel and the place that a longer stay is seriously under consideration.

Comfortable and well run hotel with good restaurantWe spent one night here on the way to the south of France. The village is only a few miles off the motorway and well worth a visit- very pretty with lots of vineyards. Our room was comfortable with good bathroom and quiet (at the back of the hotel). We really enjoyed our evening meal which was sensibly priced and the breakfast which was included in the room rate was excellent, one of the best we've had in France. Overall a very good place to stay and it would be worth further exploring the area. Service was also very friendly.
