Broken window or smoked roomWe stayed on the way down France here and had a better experience which I will write up after this. However, I need to tell you about my experience staying here travelling back to Blighty. 530 miles from Calais, 150 miles from Sauze D'Oulx via the motorway. Off the motorway it was easy to find, turn off the E611, around the roundabout and in through the industrial estate. There is a steak grill next door and a MucDonalds on the roundabout. If you have never stayed at an F1 think cheap, everything is prefabbed. Rooms are on three corridors of three floors. The central point is where the stairs, showers and toilets are. The first room we were given was 103. Ground floor facing the road. The problem was the window wouldn't close. When we went back to change the room, the receptionist knew this. The next room we were given was 104. It stank of smoke. We opened the door and window to get a draft going through, and the smell disappeared. However, as soon as we had shut the window and door, the smell slowly came back. By then it was too late. It was ingrained into everything. Including us the following day. Also at 5am a group of people woke up and left. They weren't quiet about it. The route back to the North bound motorway isn't straight forward.

Cheap but great for a stop on routeWe have driven almost 24h from Germany and needed a sleep over before continuing our journey. We originally aimed for the nearby Ibis hotel which was full and 3x the price anyway. Location is great, right next to the motorway, although not that easy to work out the access route, no signs. Very helpful receptionist confirmed our car is safe parked right in front of the hotel entry/reception and after 39Eur cash payment we went 3 stairs up to our room with digital lock. Clean, neat, tidy almost new. Double bed with a single bunk bed, sink, corner table, small TV and working heating was all we needed. Showers were shared on the floor (clean and powerful), so were toilets - could be better (cleaner). We stayed day and night and made early morning departure, first of all cars (carpark was full!) so protected gate had to be electronically opened. There is a Poivre Rouge restaurant just next to it or a shopping centre with more options and near by McD for food. Coffee automat by the reception kind of sold out by the evening. However breakfast buffet for 3.90Eur would be great to try (we had no time). Apart from us only 'workers' stayed in the hotel but it was almost full!

Avoid to stay in this hotelWe had a very very bad experience in this hotel. We stayed 2 days with my husband and baby in August. We already had some experience with this type of hotel... but this one is definitively to avoid. The hotel is in really bad condition, old and badly maintained. The shower and WC have to be shared which could be fine if they were not so dirty! In the room the blankets of the bed were dirty and stained. The same for the towels. In addition, the ventilation of the room is inexistent and as we were there in summer the temperature in the room is unbreathable.

Cheap but not that cheerfulWe stopped in this hotel in July 2016, as a group of football supporters following Wales. It served the purpose but not somewhere you would want to stop for any length of time. The rooms are small with only a sink for washing, toilets and showers are down the corridor. We asked the staff if they could order a taxi and after over an hour of waiting ended up flagging a taxi down on the main road just over the fence from the hotel.
