  For a no-frills one night stay it was perfect

  Given we didn't arrive at the hotel until nearly 1am, we weren't seeking nor expecting any frills. Having stayed in Forumle 1 hotels before I knew what to expect. The hotel had recently been refurbished and the room was comfortable enough for our needs. Although the hotel was near a main road, traffic noise was not a problem and we managed to have a good nights sleep. Didn't bother with the breakfast in the morning, it's poor value for money in my view, so we found a nearby McDonalds instead.. All in all, if you just want a functional nights stay and don't mind not having an en-suite bathroom, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

  Bad example of a budget hotel

  For context, I have stayed at F1 hotels previously and found them fine for overnight stays whilst travelling. This one in Besancon close to major routes and with good parking is a very poor example with dated appearance, dirty communal facilities (and I mean unpleasant), lights not working in some facilities, fittings missing in breakfast area, smashed glass in front door, one missing cereal and no replenishments available when requested. This was poor value at 44.50 for room and two breakfasts. Other F1 hotels - Cahors for exampl on the same trip - are great value, clean and comfortable with great staff. Not this one.

  Handy location

  We stayed for the night. It was incredibly hot, a real heat wave with highs of over 35 degrees Celsius. The rooms were stuffy and hot, and windows can't be opened, and there's no air con either. If you need a towel, you must hire one first from reception. Showers and toilets are not as clean as they used to be in the post at F1 hotels. Breakfast deal is good value. The location is excellent for getting some rest while on the road. Unfortunately, we had a nasty experience first thing in the morning, when we woke up to the nauseating stink emanating from the rubbish containers outside, when they were emptied in the morning!

  "Very bad"

  Hotel was old, smelling, without towels and really noisy during the night. They were cleaning showers just next our room at 3:00 am and when we complained, they said that they agree and will refund the money, but then they changed opinion by email! no good negotiations! I don´t recommend!

  Good value for money!

  Dont expect a lovely view, a Swiss bed and full French breakfast for this money; just a functional place to stay for the night just off the highway. Room was fresh, clean, and quiet enough. Also check in at 22.30 went fine.
