  Quite a good holiday

  I went to the hotel 2 years ago and I'm writing because I'm quite surprised with the latest poor reviews. I have very nice memories of my stay. The scenery, the place and the beach is magnificent. The food is monotonous, quite the same all the time with bits of exception here and there. But still you can always find something for yourself no matter how fussy you are. The animation group tried very hard to entertain us although their English language skills were poor. They were very nice people. The problem was the language, only 2 members of the hotel staff knew English communicatevely, and that was really irritating. However, one of the animator was Polish, so he helped us. Towels were changed every day, the room and bathroom were clean. We had some trouble with checking into our room - it was not ready !!! That's the worst thing I remember - sitting by the pool for 2 hours after a 10 hours' journey. But the remaining 2 weeks were great.

  Dream Come True

  We are from New York and went to Villaggio Calaghena with My Family. It was my 40th Birthday.... the staff was extremely kind and accommodating! They made us feel like part of the Calaghena Family. I remember visiting my Nonna & Nonno in Calabria as a kid... I wanted to recreate that feeling for my children. My extended Family that now lives throughout Italy met us the for our 10 day vacation. Calaghena helped me achieve my goal. My Birthday Celebration was Beautiful, Delicious and so much fun. We danced the night away on the large patio with the gorgeous view... we even had fireworks. I would certainly go back again & again!

  Best Place in Calabria

  This medium size luxury seaside property offers a unique, true Italian vacation. The food was top notch, the architecture of the restaurant and other buildings is antico Italian. The animatore made sure we all had fun with free evening shows and games for adults and kids together. The pool and beach were both wonderful. The beach is pebbly, not sandy but comfortable enough to walk on. Best tan I ever got was at Calaghena. (I am freckly and used SPF 15). Very Very nice, upscale but not pretentious. Love the acres of olive trees.

  Not a four star experience

  The grounds of the Hotels are in a beautiful position, the rooms overall need a good makeover, our bathroom shower was tiny, no toilet seat, we asked three times for a replacement, bedside lamp not working, towels and linen good, lights on pathways not working. The restaurant was the worse place of all, dirty, the food awful, the manger nasty, get on the wrong side of him and end up with the worse table next to the door and pass, apart from him, the rest of the staff were helpful, and the children's entertainment worked really hard, the beach was great, clean well organized.

  Poor quality, nothing to do with the web site

  Rooms are old, water was coming in when raining, they gave us towels with holes in it, toilets flush leaking, breakfast is very poor and the restaurant looks so worn out and dirty..had to wait 4 days for an official invoice for the extra unexpected fee for the animation( which we didn't want), use of swimming pool and beach...first time I see that an hotel is charging guests for using a swimming pool..the overall look of the hotel is very poor...they say wifi available but impossible ...
