Value for money, thankful for great service and staffBooked for one night initially. Room was on the 4th floor. There are no lifts, but i asked for a room on the high floor, so no complaints. Room was clean and comfortable. Had a pleasant one-night stay. Located very near Fudo Bakery (good coffee!) and the Cinema. Staff were friendly. Decided to return to this hotel when i was down with food poisoning from another state a few nights later. Asked for a low floor in case of emergency; was given a room on the first floor, although I was informed there was a smell in the toilet and I could see the room first. I was very unwell and did not think much but to just take the room and rest immediately. There was indeed a nauseating smell, as well as mosquitoes in the toilet that escaped to the room, but I was too unwell to change rooms again. Nevertheless, the night staff were very kind to bring me to the hospital in the middle of the night and kept asking if I was okay the next few days. The hotel does arrange shared taxi transportation to the airport too. I'm very grateful to all the staff who have kindly assisted me in time of medical need! :)

Venus in Blue JeansClose to the train station with easy access to anywhere in/around Mandalay. Arrived early but they checked me in to a family room till mine ready. Friendly reception staff who speak English. Good sized room with full amenities. Comfy bed and pillows. Venus no longer has its own massage facility but advised I try Paradise Spa. Excellent advice. Went twice. Full "proper" body massage and at silly cheap prices. I always tip which surprised the ladies. Taxis/moto drivers readily available. Venus has no restaurant but plenty of eateries nearby including the excellent Chinese opposite. An enjoyable stay. Hotel accommodates students.

Upsetting stay.Overall stay very disappointing. Entered our room to find the floor hadnt been cleaned and the walls looked like they had leaks and mould. The bathroom also had mould and you can hear the other rooms in the pipework and when they use the basin or shower it all comes through your pipes and the bathroom gets blocked and flooded. When checking we was advised we have to pay for the water we originally was told by reception was free of charge on arrival and topped up by the staff. Not once did they mention it wasnt free. I am quite disappointed and due to the above reasons I would stay elsewhere if I visit Mandalay again.

Good Value & Extremely Friendly StaffIf you are seeking a reasonable, affordable rate for a fairly decent room, are not looking for posh opulence but do not want to get ripped off by the high-priced "foreigner" hotels around town, then take a look at the Hotel Venus. It's all you need- A/C, wifi, laundry svc, somewhat warm shower, and very, very friendly staff, especially the night desk clerk named Moe. Moe can also be hired to take you sightseeing on motorbike around town on his days off beginning at just 20,000 kyats.

Don't Stay Here!!I arrived and they were adamant they couldn't find my booking even after l showed them my booking confirmation. . I think they had over booked, l got moved to a double room instead of a single room. The room stank like cigarette smoke and it looked liked it hadn't been dusted or mopped in a while. There was open packets of soap, the bathroom mirror and walls are super dirty.. Body fat & soap scum. No toilet paper provided in the bathroom, had to use my own roll that l travel with. Dust bunnies, mosquitos everywhere and the flip-flops they provide are dirty. I was too afraid to walk on the floors barefoot incase l caught something. Stains on the bedding. There are cheaper and better places that will also provide free breakfast. This place deserves a spot on Gordon Ramsey's Hotel Hell, it is dilapidated and needs a revamp.. It reminded me of a crack house.
