  Quirky and charming

  This is a really nice hotel with lots of good features. It's in a great position in Xanten - the square is two minutes walk away and the archaeological area is less than a mile. Impressive public areas, complete with dark wood panelling, high ceilings and countless old paintings. Also enough complementary sweets to give anyone a sugar rush! Bedrooms are clean and spacious with comfortable beds. Bedroom decor is maybe a bit disappointing, with wood chip on the walls. Decent sized bathroom, though more toiletries would be nice. Plentiful breakfast in a charming old room, and the formal dining room is magnificent, and boasts a really interesting and decent value menu.

  Great place to stay while visiting Xanten and the Colonia Ulpia Traiana, better known as the Archaeological Park Xanten. The Colonia Ulpia Traiana is located at 1km from this hotel, while the train station is about 700 meters and the town centre at 150 meters. The rooms offer a good space, the breakfast is excellent and the hotel team is helpful. The photos at the hotel entrance offer a good view of what happen to Xanten during WW II.

  nice hotel

  nice old fashioned hotel with quite good price in walking distance form the train station and centre of the town. nice staff. rooms are big a spacious. bathroom also great with everything you need. breakfast tomorrow

  Nice Little Hotel

  The hotel is located close to the city as well as a working historical Wind Mill, and old Roman city, which has a very nice Museum. The Hotel has Breakfast and Dinner, and a bar. There is an additional bar in the basement which is very cool. The rooms are big and have their own bathrooms, There is limited parking for the hotel so it's all about timing if you are bringing a car. There is a lot of history in the town. The down fall is there are a lot of black birds that make a lot of noise in the trees across from the hotel. There are also some loud bar goers on Friday and Saturday night if you happen to get a room on the front of the hotel while they stand outside and talk.

  Historic hotel in city centre

  This is an historic and picturesque old hotel very close to the main square in Xanten. A wealth of period features complimented by thoroughly up to date rooms. Cosy old bar and restaurant. Good buffet breakfast. Friendly English speaking staff.
