Beautiful hotel in great locationWe stayed for 4 nights in July. We stayed in the annexe. The room was comfortable and spacious. A balcony overlooking the beautiful forest was fabulous. Great choice for breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff. Restaurant overlooked forest and town. Fabulous light room.

Spacious hotel in good locationI stayed at this hotel for five days whilst on a package tour of the Black Forest, Germany. It lays about half a mile from the town centre and involves a steady gentle climb from the town to reach it, which could be a problem for those with mobility problems (although there are taxis available and the hotel operates an afternoon shuttle bus to the town centre). My single room on the fourth floor was very large compared to what is normally offered to single travellers and had a very picturesque view of the town and surrounding pine forest. It contained all the usual facilities (large screen TV, kettle and tea/coffee ingredients replenished each day, modern well-equipped bathroom with shower, large cupboards for clothes with lots of hangers, etc). The style of the hotel was traditional Black Forest, but light and airy and spotlessly clean throughout. The restaurant was large and the had excellent views of the surrounding forest. Breakfast was buffet style with just about everything anyone could want. The evening meal was also buffet style, and this was the only negative - unless you arrived to eat within the first hour of the restaurant opening (6pm), menu options soon diminished and many of my fellow travellers had to eat whatever was left rather than what they would have chosen. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel provided information leaflets on every tourist attraction in the Black Forest. All in all, a very good hotel for those who enjoy walking and can get to the restaurant as soon as it opens in the evening if on a package holiday.

Lovely hotel in great locationDecent size room with superb view across the valley to town. From the friendly greeting (with welcome drink on arrival), the staff were very welcoming and helpful. Perfect distance to walk into town for dinner. Comfortable rooms (a bit noisy if you want to leave window open during the night you hear traffic from very early) and spacious. Decent breakfast buffet to start the day.

Beautiful locationAll in all this is a nice hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. The food is excellent and the rooms are clean and spacious. The location is perfect for hiking in the woods and the views are stunning. Two things: 1) The walls in the new section of the hotel are paper thin. We could literally hear the elderly couple speaking in low voices next door. 2) Word of advice: Dim the lights in the restaurant, please. It is simply not cosy at all. We would certainly stay there again!

A Bit Of a Strange VibeIt was a bit disappointing to arrive at the front door of the hotel to find a building site in full swing. There was no mention of this in any communication I had had with the hotel. If I had been told I would have still been happy to go there but after a long ride when you are a bit tired and emotional first impressions are everything. The young lady on reception was pleasant and tried to explain that the on site parking for our motorbikes was a half Klm away. Now this is not a great distance but again I was expecting it to on site at the hotel. I didn't particularly want to walk even that distance in 25c heat in heavy biking gear and keep in mind that the hotel is located on a hilly part of the town. We elected to park at the front steps instead but we were still charged for the garage. We ate in the hotel once. The food was just OK. The breakfast was a reasonable selection. The bread supplied was haphazard. I never saw the same person on reception twice. The girl who we settled our bill with was pleasant. The rest of the serving staff were bordering on unfriendly. At one point we thought we were an interruption to their day. The friendliest people we found were the cleaning staff who never failed to smile and say good morning. Wifi was a mystery. No one in the hotel knew the code only reception and they finish at 8pm. Any other hotel I have stayed in have a note in the room or the receptionist tells you the details about how to access the Internet when you arrive. there was no reference material in the room about the area how to use the phone etc None of the "normal" stuff. Having said this the room was clean and the beds comfortable. When the work is complete they will have additional parking and 26 extra rooms. If there had have been a more welcoming attitude from the general staff the stay would have been improved together with the score. Would I stay again probably yes if in the area and nothing else was available.
