  Picturesque.

  Very nice old German castle turned into a spa hotel. The rooms are very large & the one we had was only accessible by a long, twisty stairwell. Sadly, housekeeping werent doing their job properly as the presence of several large spindly spiders in the corners of the ceiling area spoke volumes. Sink had several large cracks in it turning black. Very loud creaky floorboard as you enter bedroom. Bit tired here & there. Spa area was really good with a large pool area & jacuzzi. There are no lifts here! The staff are very friendly & helpful, shown to our room by receptionist. Waitresses incredibly good, with lots of smiles etc. Card & small bottle for my wifes birthday meal. Food good with big portions. The food & service is definitely 4 star.

  Lodging and wellness in a castle

  Wasserschloss Westerburg is a beautiful castle dating back to 780 A.D.. Recently it has been transformed into a hotel by Family Lerch - which is good as they renovated the place with great love and sensitivity. Checking in your will find yourself in stylish rooms nestled inside the castle. You will breathe the atmosphere of knights and noblemen while cruising through the alleys scattered with remains of ancient times. You may chill out in the beautiful though wellness area equipped with saunas and pools. You will most probably dine in the historic Ratskeller which is the only restaurant within 10 km. It's great to chill out here for a couple of days. It's not cheap but it's an experience. On Sundays you can join a tour telling you about the history of the castle. We already came two times and I wouldn't mind coming back!

  Worst restaurant ever

  Given that the hotel Building is really nice, we were very surprised and disappointed to find out that the restaurant was a disaster. I got asparagus, which were really raw, they were taken to the kitchen supposedly to cook again. Unfortunately after 30 minutes they came back as crunchy as they went. My husband had a salad without oil, and a steak which was supposed to be medium and was blue. For all that we had a waiting time of over 90 minutes. To make things even worse the service were very unfriendly. Never again,

  Business meeting

  Stayed overnight including dinner. Very pretty hotel, full of charm. My room was spacious and comfortable. Dinner was ok, but the schnitzel was over cooked and tough. The hollandaise which came with the asparagus was nothing like hollandaise, the sauce had split and was a gloopy pink. My shower gel dispenser was empty. Breakfast has no black tea. A lovely place in the middle of nowhere. The spa and pool looked very inviting. Ideal for tourists, but the attention to detail needs to improve.

  Relaxing stay

  The castle itself is impressive, with quite some older unused space. The location is quiet and beautiful. The room we had was spacious and clean. The spa was clean and okay. People are friendly. However, the service is not very flexible when it comes to dinner and wellness times. At 9 pm the kitchen was closed and we were supposed to leave. Because of corona there was no possibility to enjoy lunch. A nice experience, but not as luxurious as we expected.
