Superb hotel in SaalbachQuite simply it's hard to find fault with this superb new slope side hotel. Firstly, the rooms are well appointed with excellent views, plenty of wardrobe space and very comfortable beds. The hotel boasts a small outdoor heated pool - lovely! The restaurant caters for all tastes and the choices are excellent and varied at both breakfast and dinner. The bar has limited opening hours from around 4pm until 11pm. For those with the stamina the town isn't too far away where bars and clubs are open until the early hours! There have been one or two slightly adverse comments about this proximity of the hotel to the town. It's about a 15 minute walk down the road into the centre of town (slightly longer walk back up the hill) An alternative is 11 - 12 each way in a taxi (bit pricey!!) However we discovered that we could walk about 150m down the nursery slope next to the hotel and we were in the centre of town. This is obviously at your own risk but it's quite light and with appropriate footwear and maybe a torch it's really simple! Takes a few minurtes. Thanks to the friendly staff for a lovely stay!

Wonderful apartment, great locationWeve just had 2 weeks here and cannot compliment it enough. The new rebuild of the hotel on the edge of the slopes has been wonderfully carried out to give guests the options of full board hotel accommodation or self contained apartments with the facility of a bar and a restaurant. As self catering guests you can also use the pizza service from the restaurant which is a great option. We had one of the apartments with a private sauna which was wonderful after a day on the slopes. The apartments are well equipped with a good range of utensils for cooking, including a small a espresso machine (always important for the coffee lovers!). The crockery and glassware was good qualify and sufficient. The beds are comfortable. The views over to the Bernkogel slopes where you can watch the skiers from your balcony are amazing. The heated boot warmers in the ski room ensure you always have warm boots in the morning, but can get a little crowded at peak times. The staff are helpful and friendly. The best bit about this hotel is the location. As it is on the slopes it is slightly away from town and therefore very quiet at nighttime ensuring a good nights sleep. It offers almost ski in/ski out, yet there are a number of options for getting into central town. 1) the 15 minute walk along the road which is very pretty; 2) the short cut down between the properties if there isnt too much snow .... recommend you take your ski poles; 3) down along the edge of the ski slope which is very exciting and takes only 5 minutes; 4) a 2 minute taxi ride which is not expensive; 5) during the day if you are on skies you can ski into town and take the chair back up 6) or of course by car if you are parked in their underground garage. We hope to be back next year.

Overprised, no privacy and terrible foodNew apartment hotel, close to the Kohlmaibahn slope. My wife and I spent one week here in January and when booking we specifically asked for a nice room with a view, as we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary that week. We got a standard apartment overlooked by 2-3 other apartments and the entire hotel restaurant. We had to keep all curtains closed 24/7 the whole week to get any privacy at all. Just like living in a dark bunker. The food at the hotel restaurant was the worst we have had in years! The service at the hotel was way below par for price of the stay. The receptionists seemed uninterrested in providing any information or help booking tables at restaurants or provide info about nearby amenities. Weve seldom felt more «like a number» than at this hotel. To get to the town of Saalbach you either have to walk 15-20 minutes each way on a narrow and very busy road, or take a Taxi, which cost about 12 each way. On a positive note, the apartment was clean, modern and comfortable (but no privacy at all, inside or outside). It was also nice that the hotel has a cooperation with a ski rental shop, so you get 10% discount. You can also buy your ski passes at the hotel reception. Bottom line, we will not book here again!

Beautiful apartments overlooking Saalbach & the mountainsThe Hotel & Apartment Sonnleiten is only a year old, and is a totally new-build, replacing the older Hotel Sonnleiten. It's mainly composed of apartments with beds, living rooms, kitchen area etc. And most apartments come with a sauna as an option. I was staying in the smallest rooms they have: A double room with a bathroom. And as such, the room was cleaned every day etc., so more like a hotel service. They gave me a good price for single occupancy, and the room had everything I needed especially an amazing view over Saalbach and the mountains. The rest of the building has everything you could need: swimming pool, boot room, bar, restaurant etc. My room included breakfast, and they had an amazing spread of food and drinks; everything you could want! It's just a short walk into town, and just a few meters to the ski slopes, so this is a true ski-in ski-out location. And the front desk staff were so friendly and welcoming. You just can't fail to enjoy this great Hotel & Apartment complex, and I've already made my booking for February 2021.

Good Beds and bathrooms, further improvements can be madeWe are currently visiting this new property and it looks really good with great views over the slopes. Some technical construction parts on the outside are not of the highest quality (the drains for water on the outside are not good, the wood looks already terrible in some parts). The food offering in the restaurant (we had Half board) was ok but not very good for 4* property. Breakfast was good, dinner offering was from an average quality. I would suggest to serve a daily changing menu option for Half Board guests. The lady in service was very helpful and nice at all times. A Dutch lady at reception was really rude saying we could not split the bill at the end and we were not able to move rooms without paying an extra 600 euros. This is not good from your staff, especially keeping in mind that Austria ski season will end tomorrow! We had a fun few days here but will not visit nor recommend this property. No good value for money.
