  This is a good hotel in Hachinohe

  Not so many westerners travel to Hachinohe, but it's surprisingly fun. We were befriended by a local musician and before we knew it were singing Karaoke to a bemused Japanese audience. It was very memorable, as was the hangover as it's £18 for two-hours all you can sing and drink. If I were to return I would stay at the Select Inn again as it's perfectly comfortable and very well run.

  Surprisingly good hotel

  We got a night at this hotel at an incredible deal of 4500 yen for a double room with breakfast. I wasn't expecting much, but ended up with one of the roomiest business hotels we got all trip. The bed is a standard double bed, and there's heaps of room for your luggage (and to open them up on the floor if you wanted!). The bathroom is of the standard small Japanese size, but is laid out in a way that you can move around easily without banging into things. The only complaint is that you are unable to control the heat in the room, so in winter it can get quite hot overnight. Breakfast was nice, I enjoyed the curry and rice. The hotel is located next to Hon Hachinohe station, which is convenient train wise, and there's plenty of taxis out the front if you need to get around to places further out. We only came for one night, but I'd love to explore Hachinohe some more, and I'll definitely consider coming back to this hotel in the future.

  Never Again!

  The hotel was located right in front of the Hon-Hachinohe Station -- as suggested by its name. And that was about the only good thing about it. The rooms were smelly and filthy. The lighting was dim and the air circulation was bad (the ventilation fan was not functional). The service of the front desk was OK. Given that other choices are available around, I would not choose this hotel again if there is a choice.

  Consistently good

  We stayed here for just one night in winter of 2016, and came back to stay for 3 nights this August for the Hachinohe Sansha Taisai Matsuri. The room again was of a very good size: we could store both of our large suitcases with plenty of room to move around, and we could lay one open on the floor when needed too. The bed is a double bed, nothing large like a queen but we knew this from the last time. Unlike the previous commenter, we had no issues with smells or dirty rooms, and our aircon worked well (though it was an old system with a dial build into the bedside table!). Breakfast was good, but it is the same selection of food every day which may bore some people. All in all, still good value for money, and a great location: opposite the station and a few convenient bus stops, and a 5-10 minute walk into the city centre. We were also only a 10 minute walk away from a number of restaurants on the main road in the opposite direction.
