Best positionWe've stayed here a couple of times now, rooms are clean, beds are good, seaside room have great view of the ocean and the white limestone rock structures which are a feature of Vieste. The hotel has a great pool to cool down in after a day at the beach (umbrella and 2 lounge seats at beach directly across the street are included), grotto excursion, trip to Isole Tremiti or exploring Centro Storica. The breakfast is high level for Italian standards, I you are lucky you will get the young waier with a bald/shaved head, he is excellent, friendly, courteous and remembered us even after not being there for 2 years. 5 min walk up the hill to the Centro Storica, only 20min walk to port for boat excursions, no need to use your car, parking is included in your hotel cost. I have only seen Italians here and last time we were here saw some other foreigners but they were German tourists. A few words of Italian might help here but don't be afraid if you only speak english as there are still many people here that speak english, but it is harder. We travelled as a couple with 2 kids and there are some rooms that have the master room privte to the kids room, if you can, ask for one of the rooms. Don't forget, when in Puglia you have to wear a bathing cap when in the pool, the only place in Italy that I've seen the rule policed strictly, 'NoCap-No Swim', but don't worry they sell these caps at every 'inflatable water toy' shop.

Basic standard but a location to "die for".We passed through Vieste, saw the waterfront and decided this was our place to spend the week. I liked the look of this hotel, so we went inside and were met by the nicest staff, a really helpful young man who put us up in a room with a spacious terrace, overlooking the sea and the Pizzomunno. The furnishing was very basic, but we did not mind, everything else was great and very clean. Breakfast was ok too. There is a nice swimming pool with sun beds, but as the wonderful long stretching beach is just across the road our favourite option was to swim in the sea. The hotel has a good car park. No need to use the car though while in Vieste. One can walk everywhere.

Could've been great! This is quite a basic hotel, which would certainly be better if you happen to get one of the rooms that are beach-side. Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to have this privilege but our stay might not have been so bad if it wasn't for the following: The first most disconcerting thing was that when we checked-in the receptionist kept mentioning all of the things we were NOT eligible for BECAUSE we had used Booking.com... This was repeated to us several times later as well. I was loathe to point out that WITHOUT Booking.com we would never have found them in the first place... I do not believe it's fair for a hotel to throw this fact in a guest's face if they are listing their property on said website... An example of one of the things we were told we were not eligible for (because of our booking through Booking.com) was guaranteed parking. Now both my husband and I speak perfect Italian - so there was nothing lost in translation - we had already called before deciding to book to ask about the parking and we were told then that parking could NOT be pre-booked and was on a first come basis... So why tell us the contrary at check-in? Hm... The second most disconcerting thing was that the Wi-Fi did not work. I understand this is a first world problem and why do you need Wi-Fi if you're on holidays etc. but this is not about social media - it's about communicating with family overseas. Every hotel, Pensione, Youth Hostel etc. everywhere has Wi-Fi that WORKS. To not have it working is simply... unacceptable. We asked (begged) the receptionists many times to have someone look at it. My husband even suggested restarting the modem on our floor. The answers in return were vague and non-committal. Needless to say, no Wi-Fi was had throughout our stay. Some positives... the hotel is in a great location. There is a nice beach directly in front of it (Pizzomunno) and it's just a short walk to the town centre and the port (where the boat tours leave from). The one kindness from one of the receptionists was suggesting and booking two really good restaurants in the centre of town (I guess because it had nothing to do with Booking.com!) Anyway sarcasm aside, we did really appreciate that.

Bearable stay close to the beachHotel by the beach with low service and lightly renovated. Pros: Close to the sea. Beds are ok. There is parking behind the hotel. 24/7 open reception. The hotel has a pool, albeit small and sunbathing chairs and umbrellas are old. Cons: Staff does not give any info at check in, completely misses that we have included parking etc and speak very limited English. The rooms are newly renovated but only on the surface, the shower is old, the minibar is old, balcony not renovated and the very old AC is barely working. Don't expect to get temps below 25-26 degrees in the room. Washing line on the balcony is broken. Minibar is empty. Fair amount of sounds from the street outside during evenings and nights. Very few rooms have a sea view, which is not clear from the pictures on the website. Breakfast is poor. Parking and other outdoor areas are not clean.

Good for the priceThis hotel is right across the road from the beach and in front of Vieste's landmark Pizzomunno. It's also a five minute walk into the old part of town and a ten minute walk to the port from which the boat trips leave. do take a boat trip around the coast, by the way, it's really beautiful. Back to the hotel. We didn't have a sea view so specify this if you want one but we did have an enormous terrace with a table and chairs and clothes line. Can I just say that to those who complain that the mini bar is empty, it isn't a mini bar it's a fridge, which to my mind is much more useful. Breakfast was perfectly adequate as were the rooms for the price. My only gripe is the lack of information from the reception. When I say lack, I mean none. It wasn't a language problem either as we're Italian! When asked, they told us there was only really one restaurant where we could eat near the hotel whereas when we explored ourselves we found loads and even had two of the best meals of our holiday! There is a free car park (very rustic!) at the back of the hotel but it's on a first come first served basis so cross your fingers.
