AverageI've been in this hotel in November 2012 and in January 2013. At my arrival in January my room was simply frozen. The heating system was switched off and, with -5°C outside, I guess everyone can understand the result. I found it really annoying and I was really tempted to leave for another Hotel in Leipzig center. My live and let live philosophy + the fact that Leipzig itself is not really attractive (and I knew that with -5°C outside I wouldnt go out for a walk anyway) made me stay at the end. Having said that, the hotel has pros and cons (just like each one on earth I guess). Pros: - it is tidy and clean - I found the staff very kind and helpful - being placed in a park in the middle of nowhere, it is undoubtedly very quiet (sometimes even too much....it can give that kind of "Shining" feeling if you know what I mean) - the bar (it is more a Pub than a bar actually) is very good and the list of whyskeys is certainly impressive (even if, like me, you're not really interested in) - the restaurant is OK - breakfast is also OK - rooms are large enough and beds are also large enough for a good night sleep (I love sleeping in a large bed) - free WiFi in the whole structure - free parking - price can be attractive - hadn't time to try the fitness club but it's a real one about 2km from the hotel and I guess it should be certainly more interesting than most of the so called "fitness centers" many international hotels offer. Cons: - the hotel is in a park in the middle of nowhere.... It is actually outside Leipzig and you must have a car to get there. - the hotel seems to be stuck back in the eighties - as I said, staff is kind and helpful, but sometimes the feeling is that the hotel is a little understaffed, but maybe January is a bad period (actually I hadn't this feeling last November, so I do not know exactly where the truth is...) Conclusions: I think it is a good hotel for a business trip, provided that you're looking for a quiet place, for a relatively short staying (otherwise it gets quite boring), but also for visiting Leipzig and stay one or two nights. You won't find attractive furniture in the room, nor a stylish bathroom or restaurant. You'll find an essential ad relatively good service, a reasonable price, a lot of good whyskeys. Most important: if you come here you must have a car.

Quiet, good value hotel, adequate for business needsI stayed in this hotel when attending a business management meeting in early Feb. Its a relatively short drive out of Leipzig, the station and airport. The Check In/Out was relatively efficient and friendly and service was generally OK (with limited bar staff dealing well with large influx of business travelers). The rooms were quite small, basic but comfortable enough, although given the freezing temperatures the single thin duvet and postage stamp size solitary pillow was not exactly the lap of luxury. Although the bathroom was clean and well equipped the shower cubicle was tiny. I am average height (510) but I shudder to think how people over 6 feet or of a generally larger frame would cope. I ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was generally good and, again, service attentive. The buffet breakfasts was ample and with a wide enough choice. The bar area was welcoming with a good atmosphere and, quite frankly, an astonishing range of high quality single malts. Obviously somebody at the hotel must be somewhat of a whiskey fan. All in all, for the price and this kind of business travel, the hotel is pretty basic but friendly, efficient and comfortable enough (bar the shower units and postage stamp size bedding). Its a close enough drive into town although a more central hotel would obviously be far more convenient and certainly less unearthly quiet, for those travelling for leisure.

Plain, unattractive roomsStayed for one night at this hotel, which is quite a distance from the city. Taxi was about $23 Euro. While it was certainly an old building, it was definitely NOT the castle I was told! The feel is very old, traditional Germany and the rooms certainly reflect that. These rooms were tiny, stark, tired and plain ugly. It was a double bed with a single size comforter and way too soft pillows. There is a small TV with limited channels, all in German except CNN. There is no written information whatsoever for a non German speaking guest. There is no elevator, but there is a luggage "dumb waiter" if you don't want to haul up your luggage. (There are no porters) The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great variety of hot and cold foods. Service staff were polite and professional. Most definitely a low budget, no frills hotel, but due to the rooms, I would not stay there again.

Wonderful schloss experience! We got a room in the schloss (there is also a hotel building next to the schloss building) and were amazed on the interiors! Our room had a spacious bathroom including a bath tub and a shower. Comfortable bed, and very peaceful, not many other guests sharing the schloss with us. We had a dinner (buffet) at the hotel building in the evening and the breaksfast was served in the same space in the Morning. Both were of excellent value! Considering the price we payed, this place was definitely exceeding our expectations!! Without your own car this location might be a bit difficult, but for us on a road trip it was perfect!

Nice hotel close to the airportThe hotel is conveniently located if you look for a location close to the airport or companies like Porsche. Both are about a 5-10 minutes drive away. The hotel is close to the castle. The room was OK and clean. The staff is friendly. Breakfast is great, served in the castle, and offers a great selection of food. Cons are: WLAN is complementary, but I was not able to connect any of my devices. The restaurant closed at 8. Since we arrived late, we had to get some fast food around the corner :(
