Viewed Indian Ocean from my roomThe location is excellent. This is adjacent to the Indian ocean. From my room I can just see the ocean also the Devil island located just ahead. You can find both rocky and sandy beach behind the hotel. The beaches are like private beach for the hotel. Very less crowed, you can enjoy your privacy. This is a coral beach, so the water is crystal clean. This is a paradise for the surfer. You can hire surfing boat and can play with the big web. A new manager joined a month ago, who is trying to build good relation with customer. The manager personally took good care of my family. Although the location is very good, but the hotel is not that much good. Very few rooms available, some are with AC and some without AC. Only one person assigned for room service and cleaning, there is no other person available. At the ground floor there is a bar, where at evening many people sit with drank condition. The rooms are not so clean. The rooms without any wardrobe. The water pressure is low at bathroom. A narrow stairs to go to the 1st floor and 2nd floor. For a family stay this hotel is not recommended.

Excellent location! Terrible hospitalityThe hotel is located just on the ocean-front with a gorgeous little coral reef beach situated just behind the hotel (the undercurrent is crazy, be warned!) Amenities are barely on par with the pricing, but i guess that is quite normal in SriLanka with beach-front hotels, not like that is a valid excuse. Management are firm enforcers of a shrug-all-problems-away mentality and the room and bathroom cleanliness was sub-par... It is unusual for the hotel to not employ a lifeguard when they have all-but privatised a coral beach with a very strong undercurrent. The restaurant attached to the hotel has great views of the Indian ocean (even though it is right next to the busy Galle-road). The menu is overpriced and portions can be funny to say the least, for example: A cup of coffee is LKR 80 a Pot (3 cups) of coffee is LKR 250 I will refrain from mentioning some of the seafood prices. My fondest memory of my stay at this establishment was the beachdog that lived on premises that some of the staff have taken upon themselves to feed. It was the only act of compassion or sign of sympathy i have come across during my visit, to be brutally honest i would not recommend staying at this establishment unless it was to avoid death.

Highly Recommended - Congrats to the new managementMe and my wife spent four days recently at Sayurima Hotel. Firstly, the location is beyond words. Right in front of the sand, it has basically a private beach (we've seen only locals and guests during our stay), with the devil island in front of it. Due the corals, the water is amazingly blue, being a perfect spot to snorkeling. They recently set up an 'ocean pool', so you can safely enjoy the area. For surfers the spot is convenient and kind of 'secret' (there is a good wave for intermediates in front of it). You are close to kabalana, not too far from madiha, sou you can easily go to all of them by bike. We've heard from the staff that they've had complains from previous guests about the bar downstairs, so they were doing a big effort to make themselves better and provide the best for the customers. It was exactly what we felt (the bar also doesn't exist anymore). Despite some minimal issues around the area (seems like they are renewing lots of things), we couldn't complain about the cleanliness, kindness, and professionalism. The staff were amazing and super helpful with everything (food, medicines, train informations, local tips, tuktuk). On the last day, my wife was sick and the owner took care of her, bringing medicines, teas, and made us delicous pancakes take away. We hope to come back next season, and surely everything will be even better. Definitely worth the value!!

Tourist trap !First, you can see boards with "foreign only" written on it (what I already dislike). Then We order a half chicken that took an hour to come! Then when it arrived, we were surprise to see only a chicken leg, for 1000 rs! After saying "Excuse me but seems like a leg not half of a chicken" the waiter confirmed it was half! Don't threat tourist as if they were stupid. Only the view is nice.
