    Dissapointing

I have stayed in hotel Satel in the past and it was rather pleasant visits. On latest occasion, on 20th Of July 2019 I was rather disappointed. I have made a booking for 1 person for 1 night through hotel own reservation system. As I knew the most rooms are equipped with balconies, I have specified in my booking that room must have a balcony. The reservation was confirmed by email the same day when I made my booking. On arrival, after very long working day and short flight, I was told that they dont have a room with balcony for me. This was rather disappointing as no one has informed me in advance. In the end I have stayed overnight in the hotel Gerlach next door which had available room with larger balcony than hotel Satel have. What really annoyed me at this point that receptionist insisted that I must pay for the room anyway as I have made a booking. Furthermore, the receptionist was waving at me printed paper with all my credit card details, threatening, that the hotel will take payment anyway. I was wondering if this is even legal, yet tired, just paid the bill and went to sleep to the hotel next door. I have picked up a beer and and a few sodas at Satel hotel, before I left for a new hotel. Once in my room I have realized that the beverages were warm, not refrigerated. Yes, disappointing. There is really efficient 24 hours taxi service in Poprad and there is number of hotels on the mountains just minutes away from the town. In the future, I will consider mountain resort instead.

Location great, hotel in need of upgrades

Location is perfect if you need to get to the train station. Only a 5 minute walk! Its also about a 10-15 minute walk to the main shopping area. The hotel itself is very dated. Rooms are extremely small, unkept and not clean. Bathtub and shower area was very difficult to get into as it very high. I was unable to use the bathroom mirror as it was mounted on walk too high. There is also no A/C. Windows are difficult to open and there is plenty of street noise, therefore it wasnt quiet and difficult to sleep. The breakfast does have a good selection of hot and cold choices. Large room to eat in. The biggest con- after checking in at 2:30pm a staff member open our door! After that, it was difficult to feel comfortable or safe in the room. The other con is that the hallway lights are in a motion sensor which does not turn on until you are halfway down the hallway. I do not recommend!

Convenient location for exploring the High Tatras

This is a large international-style hotel conveniently located just a few minutes from Poprad bus and train stations, from where you can get to a large range of interesting locations in the vicinity. To get there, use the back entrance to the hotel (not the main front one) and head left up the pedestrian way. Once you get to the glorious Soviet liberators memorial, go left across the vacant lot for the bus station or straight ahead for the train station. Several reviewers have complained that some parts look a bit dated, the hotel seems to have been built around 1990, a lot of it has been modernised and they're going through room by room refurbishing each room, but even the original rooms aren't that bad. I was in a pre-refurbished room and it was fine, you could tell it was a bit older but then I wasn't expecting the Hilton for 50 a night. It's a perfectly decent hotel to stay in, the staff were very helpful, and breakfast was included in the price.

Nice hotel, with a great location and a wonderful view

This hotel actually exceeded my expectations! We stayed in Poprad for 2 nights on our trip in the High Tatras region. The town doesn't have much to offer but it's close to the mountains and the small villages in Vysoké Tatry. The hotel was really nice! It's an older hotel that's located pretty close to the train & bus stations and to the city center. It might not look too much from the outside, but the room was clean, comfortable & spacious enough, and it had a view to the hills. The only issues were that the windows & bathroom are pretty old (they really show their age!), but this will soon be fixed from what we understood. We also had breakfast included: it was the usual buffet type breakfast, but it had diverse options so you could basically eat different foods every day. The staff was really polite, helpful and quick. They all spoke English and were very professional all the time. Overall, this was a pleasant experience and we'll surely be staying here whenever we'll revisit the High Tatras region.
