Clean and cmfortable hotelNeeded a hotel for one night, and found this gem. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable, linens of good quality. Breakfast was lovely with a wide choice. Will be booking again next time we need to stay in Malta.

Good hotel steps from a bus terminal that takes you all around.Malta is a great vacation spot and my choice for Hotel Santana proved to be a right one. Good service, pool and spa service, close to the beach, the national aquarium and several bars, restaurants and beach clubs (would recomend 9 Lives). There's a bus terminal (Bugibba) just around the corner that takes you everywhere around the island and also to the airport. Staff provides good service and can suggest some interesting tours. My stay was in Jun-2019.

HoneymoonMe and my new husband stayed here from 16th till 20th January, we live on gozo and with travel restrictions in place because of covid decided to go to malta for a couple of days, and choose the Santana, because of its location and parking and the fact it had also a heated pool and jacuzzi, and breakfast included, which was fantastic lots to choose from, The rooms where large clean and modern, clean towels and room service every day, shampoo, shower gel and conditioner. Hair dryer, tea coffee and milk, small fridge My only complaint is not enough plug sockets especially at the side of the beds or near the mirror, The staff were friendly and polite, hotel clean bar was good not exspensive, 2 for 1 at 7pm. Thinking of coming back end of February

Tranquil holiday or active holiday? My choice. Same hotel. This review is based on my holiday at the Santana hotel in February 2020. This was a package holiday on half board (HB) terms booked through Chevron. WHY I LIKE THIS HOTEL Its location makes it easy for me to have a tranquil holiday or an active holiday or a mix of both. I like the pleasantly modern décor in my room. The dining room is nicely laid out such that I linger over breakfast and do not rush dinner. Hotel staff (especially in the dining room and at reception) are always helpful and quick to respond to my requests and questions. The Zazen Garden is a very pleasant place to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. This hotel offers a lot for a very modest price. LOCATION The Santana is close to the bus station in Qawra. The sea front is a a few minutes walk from the Santana. If I want a tranquil day I can sit on my balcony and drink a cup of tea or coffee (tea and coffee facilities come with the room) or I can go up to the sun deck or the pool deck or sit with a drink in the Zazen Garden (which seems to be ignored by many guests). If I want an active day I can take a pleasant stroll from the Santana to the San Anton Gardens and Presidents Kitchen Garden via Naxxar or Mosta. Another pleasant walk from the Santana is to Golden Bay via Bidnija and Zebbieh. If I want a modest amount of walking then I can go to the sea front and walk along the Solar System (the Sun is near to the Malta National Aquarium and Neptune is near to Bugibba Square) and continue to St Paul's Bay and thence to Mistra Valley. ROOM After a change of room I ended up in a room that was very comfortable and made my stay at the Santana a pleasure. My first room was smaller than usual but this wasn't a concern for me whereas the balcony was of concern to me. This balcony was wedge shaped like a wedge from a pie chart where the two straight sides meet in a right angle. This balcony's straight sides were only about 145cms long and it definitely was not a 'sit down, stretch out and relax' balcony. This was of concern to me because I do like to sit on my balcony and drink a cup of tea or coffee and relax. If I'd not intended to use the balcony then the room would have been fine but as I did intend to use the balcony a lot, and as I knew that Maltese hotel staff are usually happy to help, I went for a chat with the staff at reception. They were excellent. They understood my concern and they were happy to find another room for me. I moved to this second room a day later. This second room was pleasantly larger than my first room and, more importantly, had a very nice balcony (which was not only good for relaxing but was also good for birdwatching). POWER There were two UK 13A sockets near to the desk (along with a multi-standard socket) and another UK 13A socket near to the fridge. STORAGE I had plenty of storage space. The main storage unit was a double wardrobe with a cupboard with five shelf (this includes the base) alongside. One of the shelves was occupied by a safe (which is provided free of charge). The fridge was in a door-less cupboard with a tray, kettle and cups on top of this cupboard. There was a desk (and chair) with a large cubby hole and a drawer and there was a large suitcase table. On each side of the double bed there was a two shelf unit fastened to the wall. LIGHTING This more than met my needs for reading and writing. There was a wall light near the desk, a wall light by the door and a wall light by each bedside. I have a recollection that although the light by the door can in theory be switched on/off by any of three switches (one by the door and two by the bedheads), in some of my rooms at the Santana one switch has been wired as a 'master switch' which means that if it is off then neither of the other two switches will work. HEATING I didn't need to heat or cool my room. TEA AND COFFE FACILITIES These were provided free of charge which meant I usually spent longer than intended in the morning on my balcony leisurely drinking a cup of tea or coffee. I think this was the first hotel kettle I've used which had auto-switch off (i.e. lift it off its base and it switches off). BATHROOM This was compact and neatly laid out. It had a ceiling light and a light over the mirror. The only concession to its compact layout was the hand basin which was of a compact design that I'd not seen before and was shallower than the more traditional design of hand basin. WIFI No problems whatsoever with the wifi in my room. DINING ROOM, BREAKFAST When I stayed at the Santana early in 2019 the dining room had dark décor and an island servery. It has undergone a redesign and is now light and bright and airy. The difference is impressive and well worth the work that went into it. The main servery is on one wall close to the entrance to the dining room. There are separate island serveries for salad items and cakes (breakfast) and puddings (dinner). For breakfast there are hot drink machines, juice machines and toasters at the main servery and half way along the dining room near the cake/pudding servery and at the far end of the dining room (which was my preferred place for breakfast as it has lots of daylight. Cooked breakfasts (including porridge) were standard. There was an excellent (and often too tempting) choice of dishes for dinner and the cakes (breakfast) and puddings (dinner) brought an excellent end to an excellent breakfast or dinner. A neat touch is that clean mugs are on the tables rather than stacked by the hot drink machine. STAFF AND SERVICE Staff on reception were very helpful when I wanted to move to another room. Service at reception was consistently helpful and prompt. The same can genuinely be said of the dining room staff, especially when I wanted to know some detail about the dishes at dinner. THE BUILDING It is large but not overwhelmingly so and it is pleasantly modern. The roof has two levels a sun deck with a pool deck above. The back of the Santana used to look onto open ground but in 2019 a new hotel was built which is a storey or so taller than the Santana. Personally, I think that the nicer view from the Santana's roof is to the front of the hotel so this new hotel hasn't affected my view at all. ZAZEN GARDEN I was a regular visitor to this garden every day of my holiday. When I first stayed at the Santana there was a patch of rough ground at the rear of the hotel. This patch is now the Zazen Garden and it is a very pleasant place with tables, chairs and canopies. The ground is now nicely slabbed (or tiled), it has raised borders at its perimeter and it has several wall and ground level water features. Decor is a tranquil variety of (I think) light brown and cream hues. Construction of a new hotel (see 'THE BUILDING' above) means that the Zazen Garden is surrounded on three sides by buildings of 8-9 storeys; I'm happy to say that this did not distract from my enjoyment of the Zazen garden. RECYCLING There were several recycling banks on the guest floors. These are neatly made banks of three containers (plastic, paper and cardboard, glass) nicely finished with what looks like carpeting on the outside surface of the bank. They are a nice environmental consideration.

Absolutely perfect for a Holiday Or A Weekend Break. Hotel Santana Is The Best!I have been several times to the Hotel Santana, it is a Hotel that makes you want to return and whilst there I always extend my stay as very satisfied with everything. As soon as you walk into the Hotel it is sparkling clean and very covid secure, the staff are always checking everything and making sure plenty of hand sanitisers are around. Everything is set up Covid safe. You will recieve a lovely warm welcome from the reception on your arrival whether it is your first time or if you have been before and they remember you if you have been before. The Hotel has been refurbished and very fresh with a nice reception area with sofas to relax. The Hotel Santana doesn't just have one room type it has many different rooms types to suit everyone so when you are booking have a look at the different room types. They also have a Facebook page and advertise and offers and event's. The rooms are bright and fresh has a fridge, kettle, with cups, tea, milk coffee and sugar all included. A free safe too. Shampoo shower gel and soaps. The rooms get serviced every day if you like and they will change towels and replenish tea coffee milk and sugar. Bedding is fresh and clean too Very comfortable rooms. For anyone who has not been to Santana recently the Hotel restaurant has been refurbished all very fresh, bright, modern and much bigger and the food is delicious. Again very Covid safe - plenty of plastic gloves sanitiser and the staff keep a check on how many people they have. Breakfast is plentiful - lots of choice including a hot selection of food too. Dinner - again the food is delicious lots of choice and all very fresh. One thing to note is that reception do a flexi card for evening meals - you can choose how many evening meals you want to buy and choose what days want to eat I myself buy these. This Hotel is a very popular Hotel with the locals - they love to come here for a weekend break and sometimes I see the same faces because Santana is perfect, very relaxing and excellent value for money. It is also very popular with guests like myself who come here for a holiday stay from the UK or other countries. What I also love about this hotel is the indoor pool and jacuzzi - the water in both is lovely and warm and the jacuzzi is a good size they are both included, the pool is a good size too and chairs to relax. Ask at reception about hiring pool towels. For warm days there is a roof top pool with great views and plenty of sunbeds. Another bonus about Santana is that it is perfectly situated in a central area when you step outside you have shops, bars, chemist, restaurants and supermarkets all within easy reach and easy walking distance to the sea and a lovely promonade for nice walks and the Buggiba square where you can enjoy a drink or a meal. Also very close to the bus station where you can take local buses around the island a bus ticket in winter costs 1.50 and lasts 2 hours in summer 2 The Santana has a bar area too and very resonable prices for drinks and a happy hour in the evening again all very safe and Covid secure. Another great feature about the hotel is the staff "every" member of staff is absolutely lovely and will help you the best they can as their aim is to make you feel at home and want you to enjoy your stay. The reservations team are very efficient and try best to accommodate you. Come to Santana - you will have a great time and such great value for money.
